I'm not sure the exact answer to this so maybe someone with experience can chime in but my best guess would be the interior may have an extra light or compartment somewhere or nicer knobs and switches. I know I read up on a Mach 1 once and the deluxe model had nicer pedals and silver knobs and stuff compared to the plain and simple basic. Just my best guess.

Re: Mustang deluxe and premium?

my 01 V6 was a deluxe pkg, basically it just includes cruise control and rear spoiler~ not much else (power seat perhaps) and the 6 cd changer. Base model has none of that, premium is another step up (leather etc)

Yes it's deluxe. If you have the leather seats and optional hood scoop in a v6 or the tan leather interiors it's premium.

I dont believe there was ever an option for the V6 to have a hood scoop in 99-04.

Re: Mustang deluxe and premium?

Nice old lady I met here in town last week has a dark red 03 Mustang convertible with gold trim and gold stripes, gold wheels and a Cobra hood. She told me that her husband bought it new off of the showroom floor in that condition.

That was the first time I had heard that you could get a Cobra hood as an option.

They need to make a "Stallion package" the comes with a supercharged sixer, headlights that glow red when over 100mph and and oil slick button. I would suggest a Chuck Norris edition but I think that would be to much for me to handle, especially since he takes steroids just so his nuts will fit in his pants.

Lol that would be pretty funny about the lights but I do like that supercharged idea, or at least a turbo or somethin to add a little giddup and go when us 6ers want it!

Mine had the ponies on the door, white, and ugly as sin. I pulled em off as soon as I got it home. I didn't have the pony package so the previous owner must have had them put on.

They started the pony package in 02, but only available on cars in florida

In 03 it was available everywhere, GT hood scoop, gay running ponies on the rockers, black mustang inserts in the rear bumper, and bright polished 16" wheels.

Re: Mustang deluxe and premium?

They offered the v6's in 3 trims levels: Base, Deluxe and Premium.

Base: 5spd, cloth manuals seats, basic cd player (cd and cassette on 99-01's). No spoiler, cruise and trac control were options, 15" 6 spoke wheels on 99-01's, 16" basic machined 5 star wheels (same as 99-00 deluxe GT wheels).

Deluxe: 5spd or auto, mach 460 started in 02 as an option on deluxes, if it didn't have a Mach 460 it had either the basic cd player or Mach MP3 single disc player, door strip on door skins, trac control, spoiler option, power seat option, leather wrapped steering wheel was an option on verts and 16" wheels.

Premium: 5spd or auto, power driver's seat, mach 460 standard, mach 1000 as an option, leather as an option, usually for convertibles, 16" 5 star bright machined wheels, rear spoiler standard, leather wrapped steering wheel, trac control and cruise control standard.

The Pony Package was 100% cosmetic...GT hood scoop, black mustang inserts in rear bumper, running ponies on the rockers, and 16" bright polished 5 spoke wheels.

The 40th special anniversary had the interior upgrade package [bigger headrests (same as Mach 1/Cobras), and silver interior trim], body colored folding mirrors (same as 03/04 cobras), 40th floormats, accents on wheels, arizona beige dual stripes and rocker accents, console plaque near shifter, and were available in 3 colors: black, oxford white, and crimson red.
