Blackedout possibly fast as the newer v6s

My friend has an automatic 2012 v6 mustang him and I use to argue which car was the fastest. Well one day he passed by an I went ride in his car his car didn't feel anything quite like mine. Then he road in my car and he even agreed that my car has to be faster than his. I know the 2012 ran 240hp on the dyno is it possible somehow that with my upgrades that my car is possibly faster than his?

---------- Post added at 07:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:05 PM ----------

We caught up and ran a couple of times on the hwy. Not street racing but me passing him up to get in front of him. We will most probably run at the track once I get my suspension done and lower my car.

No offense but he will probably win. Even if you was near hp and tq the trans and just everything is new and really mean and aggressive. Hard to be near them.

Well the new 2011+ v6 runs 14 and our run 15-16. You need all bolt on plus some good tires and maybe a driver mod you could take him

Our 11+ can run up to 13.7 stock is the quickest I've seen but 14.0 like the person said above is about the average for most. That's about what 99-04 GT's do, the GT just being a tad quicker w/ the torque. Not sure what mods you have, but it'll take a lot to catch up to those numbers. I had a 3.8 before my 3.7 and the difference is huge. Our cars don't have much on the low end though, it's all top end.

---------- Post added at 08:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:54 AM ----------

What mods you running now?

Re: Blackedout possibly fast as the newer v6s

it takes a good bit to get a 3.8L v6 down to a low 14 sec quarter mile (about where the new v6's are stock).

The 3.8L stock in auto is 16.0 and in manual 15.6~ or so

.... thats a TON of ground to make up and you cant do it with just bolt ons/tune.... it will require much more than that to get below a high 14 sec quarter.... very possible but not cheap/easy to do.

Re: Blackedout possibly fast as the newer v6s

I'd have to side with the numbers and history here and say the 2012 is the faster car.

Your car probably "feels" quicker if it has a short throw shifter or aggressive auto tune, as well as some mods. I'd imagine the +2011's are way more refined and auto shifting is smooth, so it feels "slower" but there's no way our p.o.s. 4r70w is outrunning that new 6spd auto, even with a race tune.

Sct Tuner 93 race tune, pypes offroad dual with open exhaust, FIPK K&N cold air intake, petal mod, valve covers Pcv bypass, and some other mods. I may not beat one I don't know only racing at the track. But I'll tell you this, I'm close real close

---------- Post added at 06:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:51 PM ----------

Maybe I'll build my car to defiantly best these newer v6s then. Starting with a 4.3 stroker 330 hp motor from supersixmotorsports since I'm keeping it. I'm going for at Atleast 330 hp.

Grab a 8.8 rear and gears and you'd be good I think. With just mostly bolt ons and tune though, there's no way. My old 3.8 had similar mods but was nowhere near my 3.7 now. Rear and gears should do it though man GL though!!

Hell I'd just pick up a N/A Cobra or Mach 4V and drop that in...you'll be pretty damn close to 330hp at the crank in stock form and have a much better platform to work off. Unless you want the 4.3 stroker, that'd be badass too.

Well with a v8 swap there's too much modding. This motor goes right in.

Thought about something like this but I think I'll put that kind of money towards a new GT or v8 car

Maybe a v8 swap later on in life when the v6 goes out, but for now she'll stay a bolt ons sixer.

Well she's got 66k miles on her and has been meticulously maintained for 49k so she better not go out any time soon lol.

Glad to see ya'lls cars are running straight after 100k...I cringe everytime I see 66k, wish it was back around 17k when I bought it, but then I didn't buy and work on her to sit around

160,000 on the 99. And it runs real well still. I got it from the original owner that took good care of it, he just drove it a lot. Can't blame him there, lol.

I've got a similar setup but a 5-speed, even with the 93 race tune mine has nothing on my uncles 2012 v6. After driving his mine feels like a rock. The new v6's are leaps and bounds ahead of the sn95 sixxers, even bolt on ones.
