Brakes are dragging on my 1997 Mustang

When I'm driving the car I can hear metal rubbing, so I checked the back-right brake and the outside of the rotor is covered in rust so it can't be dragging on that side, but the inside of the rotor is smooth and covered in metal-dust, so it must be dragging on that side.

The caliper is touching the backside of the rotor, and might have 1 millimeter of wiggle room from the front.. Would pushing the caliper back .5 mm center it and stop it from rubbing or does the caliper need to be opened wider?

I don't really know anything about cars, but it seems semi-straitforward.

I just got this car and I have only drove around 500 miles on it so far, and I don't know how long this has been going on.

Thanks in advance!

Need to check and see if the caliper is actually working

How should I do that? Just press the brake and have someone watch it to see it it moves?

Press the brake then try to wiggle the caliper
