Anyone know? Quick Q

Does anyone know if a 2000 mustang GT rear end would bolt right up to a 2001 V6? I'm looking to upgrade my rear end and looking at forced induction down the road so would like something stronger. What do you guys think a good price is for a 8.8" rear end anyways?

Re: Anyone know? Quick Q

yes, and not sure what a good price is, but definitely a good move over a t-lock on the 7.5!
something I would like to look into as well...

It will bolt right up with minor adjustments, and around $500 is a fair price.

yeah thats enought with that money . i havent got this but i probably will if i dont sell my sixxer. but word of advise , swap out the rear end only if u plan on making more hp. and u should swap it in when your ready with the extra power for ur car because if you swap the rear end first before the extra power it will only slower ur car down cuz the 8.8 weighs more.

I was planning to also add 4.10 gears, and would this effect ride height? Do I need new springs? Brakes? Driveshaft?

well i think the 8.8 u buy should come with all u need. and as for suspension it might just ad extra weight out back so upgrading to aftermarket suspension sounds like the better plan to go with.

also, i really recommend talking to guys on 3.7mustang.com . those guys should be able to answer any question u might have on swaps and stuff like that .

Small stuff like drilling new holes because of slight alignment issues, maybe moving the exhaust a bit. I've only worked on 67-98 mustangs so they might be slightly different but they're usually all the same. 8.8 rear-$500, Auburn tlok-$400, 4.10 ring and pinion kit-$200, with the extra $400 you could add a short shifter ($150), CAI ($100), and a light weight underdrive pulley ($80). Or put in a staged clutch kit if its a manual or a aftermarket torque converter for a automatic.

Just make sure if you wanna run a Turbo, have the mindset that your car is already turbo'd when thinking of mods.

Re: Anyone know? Quick Q

yup it works, great opportunity to upgrade the lower control arms and shocks. You wont have quad shock mounts but you dont need those anyway with good springs (also great time to do springs).

You will need to get one with or without ABS depending on what you have... I guess technically if you get one with ABS and you dont hook it up all is good lol... but the other way around is NOT Fun as you have to swap the ABS junk from your 7.5 over and that means the axles (which interchange) so.... avoid that if you can.
