Auto mustangs = sluggish?

I'm looking for my gf a mustang an she wants a auto of course. We found one today by damn the motor felt sluggish. I couldn't get passed it feeling so sluggish so we passed on it. Are autos suppose to be that much more sluggish? I have a manual so is that why it felts so sluggish?? Idk if somethin was wrong with the motor or if it's suppose to Be that way. Help please

No they are not supposed to be!.. If it was feeling sluggish then I would say something was not right with it!..

they are easily a half second slower stock vs stock so you can feel the difference, its a cable gas petal so not a drive by wire as the new ones are so thats not an issue on those year cars~

It could be something just wrong with that car but overall the autos in those years are noticeably slower.
