04 Mustang Dipstick Tube Install

Hi All,
A few months ago I took my car to a shop to have Dual Exhaust & Long Tube Headers installed. They said the Headers wouldn't fit so they didn't get installed. Anyway...I think they must have pulled my oil dipstick tube all the way out when they did this. Didn't notice it til I did an oil change today. I tried to get the tube back in but it just wont go. I can get the tip of the tube in the hole but can't get it to go down & seat in the block. It seems as if the tube isn't at the correct angle to slide in the hole. Has anyone had to put in a dipstick tube & how did you do it??? Do I have to remove my exhaust manifold / header? Sure appreciate any info on doing this. THX

It should go back in, really. I guess you tried spinning the metal dip stick before pushing it in??

+1

This is the best way.
Make sure the end of the tube is not damaged.
If it is try to straighten and slightly taper the end so it fits the hole.
A round rod or bolt clamped in a vise along with a small hammer works well to straighten a deformed tube.
Slide the tube over the rod or bolt and work the kinks or creases out with the hammer.
Carefully file the end to a taper, being sure to remove any and all metal debris before inserting.
