This is the best way.
Make sure the end of the tube is not damaged.
If it is try to straighten and slightly taper the end so it fits the hole.
A round rod or bolt clamped in a vise along with a small hammer works well to straighten a deformed tube.
Slide the tube over the rod or bolt and work the kinks or creases out with the hammer.
Carefully file the end to a taper, being sure to remove any and all metal debris before inserting.
