Talking Random Questions and opinions!

I'm a first time car owner, and I got lucky enough to get a '04 v6 so I ain't complainin' it's a damn good start for someone like me and a total blessing.

Now anyway I installed a MAC dual exhaust conversion 'til I have money for true duals from manifolds to catback, probably goin' x pipe and eventually gettin' a tuner.

My newest mission for now tho is a CAI, I'm thinkin of a SR CAI from AM, can I get your opinions on it? If so what cheap alternative could you offer? and throw ideas at me guys! I wanna learn everything I can about my car! She's my baby!

I got a Cai from am and it was the cheapest one they offered. I say go with that the only difference between them is the name and what material they are made from. They all give about a 10-15 hp boost with a tune regardless of brand

+1 cheap one from AM is fine, the plastic from other intakes don't really matter much when your engine bay is heat soaked.

Re: Random Questions and opinions!

Alot of us, including myself get the AM CAI and just put a 3.5" K&N filter on it so it breaths better.

Re: Random Questions and opinions!

Dual exhaust, CAI, underdrive pulleys. Then get a SCT tuner. Getting one from a Mustang shop that provides dyno tunes will net you best results. Then get yourself some gears, 3.73 or 4.10. Gears will make you very happy.

i cant find a good set of underdrive pulleys anywhere for a v6...do you just use the V8 ones or what?

I'd get tuner first, period. One of the best mods you can do for immediate power uppage

+1

i have a tuner already and it did a lot for me since i have an auto. before the tuner i couldn't even bark the tires into 2nd, now i'll spin them. but i'm still looking into getting a decent, decently cheap set of UDP

ASP is the company who makes the underdrive pulleys, and i believe LateModelRestoration has them for sale. On my phone, so ill post the link later. Haha and i love the tire squeak, but ive stopped doing it since ive gotten my Nittos on them. Ill occasionally swap on my old tires and squeal them for old times sake

For biggest power gains
Get internals.
Supersixmotorsport.com
Bolt ons you may see 300rwhp.
But that's with every bolt on you can think of and a tune to bring it all together.
A new ported upper can do some good too since the windstars aren't gonna be sold anymore

I'm just gonna get a 4.2 block, or 3.8 block, stroke it out and smooth it all up put low comp pistons stage 3 heads, custom cam, bigger fuel injectors and pump, better rods, really have super six just set up a beast engine for me and let me do all the work.
Should be around 5-6k engine alone, then I wanna strap on a pro charger with 12-15lbs and look for a good 8.8 with 3.73s. Over all it looks to come out to 12-15k project. But would be fun

Sounds like a hell of a build! I decided just to put a 03/04 blower on it and use meth injection to cool it. Then work on the insides

There isn't enough room for a cooling kit I thought?
You'll need a new hood also, but before u strap that blower on send it off for a nice polish and port job, get on lethal performace and look for the supercharger polish and port under the cobras.
It's a place that starts with an S I can't remember lol

Ill probably end up migrating the battery to the trunk, and mount the reservoir back there as well and install the solenoid that prevents gravity from force feeding to much fluid into the lines. Should give me enough room in the engine bay for anything since the meth injection doesn't require much space. And i havent decided on the hood yet, but once i figure out how much clearance ill need ill decide then. And the company is like steigemeifer or something correct?

Damn son! You get 300rwhp from bolt ons on our cars and I want to know your secret! lol.

The 99-04 3.8/3.9's in stock form dyno in at ~160rwhp...you'd be lucky to see 180rhwp with exhaust, CAI, udp's, coil packs, t/b, spacer, and all that other crap that really doesn't do much, lol.

I don't consider the Windstar Intake a bolt on because you're diving into the "I" section of the H/C/I area with that one.

Our cars simply don't respond to basic bolt ons that well. H/C/I and/or FI are your best bets to make real power with these engines.

Obviously bolt ons and a tune will wake the car up noticeably compared to stock form, but don't expect to be outrunning GT's etc.

Also, even though VAP might not be selling the Windstar Intakes, you can still find one...on a Windstar! lol...head to the junkyard and pull the intake out of a Ford Windstar...I know there's a list of exactly what you need out there for a do it yourself Windstar kit.

This is true. I sent him an email and he said that only the KIT is being discontinued.....he's still going to be selling the individual parts for a while

Re: Random Questions and opinions!

Underdrive pulley kits are everywhere for purchase. BBK makes a popular set. Your model car will require the harmonic balancer too, I believe. Google it.

If you do go with pulleys then make sure it's not a "piggy back" style!..
