First road trip after UDP 32.8 MPG!

Ok, as most of you are aware, I have been modifying my car with the focus on gas mileage rather than speed or acceleration. Saturday the 12th I installed an underdrive pulley (UDP 25%). Prior to the UDP I had been averaging 29-30 mpg.

Anyway, tonight was my first road trip. I filled up (tuner set to 91P) and drove from Watertown to a farm outside Ipswich SD. Round trip was 233 miles, and I stayed as close to 65 mph as I could since that was the posted speed limit and I don't have cruise control...

I got back to Watertown and refilled. I added 7.1 gallons and it was full to the brim. 233/7.1=32.8 MPG!

WOW!

Wow There is no way I could tame my Mustang like that. But good job.

I only get 16 that's with my CAI and dumped exhaust. Before that and before I changed my o2 sensors, I was getting like 12, city.

Re: First road trip after UDP 32.8 MPG!

These cars ARE capable of really great gas mileage... if you don't abuse them!

When I got my car last June it was totally stock and I got window sticker mileage... like 14 city and 24 highway... Then I started buying parts!

My Windstar (with optional 65mm throttle body) was worth +4 mpg in town and on the highway.

Tuner was worth about that much also.

Shorty headers, High flow cat X, and catback helped in town but hurt highway mpg. Same day as exhaust install I also installed screamin demon coil, new wires and plugs...

Now this UDP added a few mpg highway.

This was my city MPG a few weeks ago. 24 MPG City
