v6 header gain?

Guys the 97 stang I just got has headers, idk what kind or brand. What's the typical hp and torque gain from them?

Long tubes=maybe 15hp 10-15 tq
Shorties= 5-7hp 2-6tq
The stock manifolds flow very well so shorties are just "Okay"
Sorry if this gives up it hopes.
Pics of the stang tho?
Interested to see ur ride.
We love to share on the forum.
Welcome!

Re: v6 header gain?

Long tube? or shorty stock replacements? With shorties I would suspect no increase at all.

The best this you can do is a split port swap you will gain like 40hp. No joke.
Ask other around here what it involves.
I think just heads and manifold...
Not 100% sense I don't have to do it...

How does yours have 215 horses? Mine barely has that. Plus you don't put that down. Your prolly putting like 120 horses to the ground. 99-04 v6's put down like 160

Full exhaust, CAI, ported manifold, TB, gears, t-lok, udps, driveshaft, coils, spark plugs, tune.
Maybe a cam, and heads(wouldn't be hard to do)
Just the stage 3 super six pak
With heads, cam, ported upper and lower manifold showed 90hp over stock(crank) so 70-75rwhp added.
So u go from 190 to 280 with 2.8k. Damn good if you ask me. Add the rest of the listed above, I bet you see 300 to the wheels.

Those are the specs but they don't actually get that to the wheel.

That's the crank. Crank to wheels is a 15% loss so ur looking at 150-160rwhp on 99-04
And 120 94-98

I dont have the upd, ported manifolds, or an aftermarket driveshaft, and i can keep up with the un-moded gts. They get kinda pissed when they figure out its only a sixer lol.
Oh and last time i went to the track i used regular street tires and was getting low 13s

Re: v6 header gain?

i bought it used from an air force guy so im not sure on brands and it might have more done then i know. But from what i have done and what i know has been done... cai, headers, sct chip, cam, magnaflow duals with x -2cats, pro5.0 shifter, 8.8 axle, 2-3inch drop, plugs and wires, tb, and probably something else i cant remember with out going and looking at it lol. i do have to say that my highest time at the track was 17 lol, but i was listening to someone else that said not to do a burn out first so when i tried to launch it just sat there for a second making noise and smoke. And i missed second altogether like a jerk. Also i dont know what this means but last time i took it in for an oil change i went somewhere new, and the guy asked me what low end work i had done cause i dont have the stock oil pan, but i dont know what can be changed down there.

One thing that's not technically a "bolt on" but easier to do is rocker arms. Get a full set of higher ratio roller rocker arms and you could gain up to 10hp. Plus less friction from the rollers which means lower oil temps.

Re: v6 header gain?

I gained 5HP & 5fpTorque peak from Headers & Prochamber. 10HP throughout most of the powerband. On a dyno-

AND- That's going from a divorce dual system with Flowmaster 10's to longtube headers and Prochamber midpipe. FYI~
