MSD DUD!!

So about two months ago I purchased and installed the MSD Streetfire coil pack for my pony. I went with MSD for two reasons, 1. MSD is a reputable company and been around for years. 2. The Streetfire put out more peak volts than the Screamin demon. Well after a trip to Cali and back, a few trips around town one plug on the coil failed making the car run like crap. The dumb thing is it happened outta no where, the car had been sitting for over a week. I drove it to the gas station and it ran fine, started it up after putting gas in it and it ran like crap. I'm calling summit and making em overnight a new one to me, this is crap! Anybody else have probs with MSD's?

Re: MSD DUD!!

There are a few options out there, and I have heard about premature failures on all of them... with Accel being the worst one I guess...

I opted for the Screamin' Demon when I needed a replacement, however I imagine there is little difference between them.

11 months and 9,000 miles later mine is still working fine, however I do have a new OEM coil in my tool box in the trunk just in case.....

Yeah, MSD's new motto should be "The best ignition components on the market, but keep your stock ones just in case"

I had their streetfire coil and never had a problem with it. Only reason I took it off was for a blaster 2 coil.

You're always going to have duds with any reputable company, it's the service when the problem happens that makes or breaks them IMO.

Re: MSD DUD!!

Why did you change out your stock coil pack?

Re: MSD DUD!!

I changed mine because it failed, it lost spark to number 4 and 6.

Re: MSD DUD!!

Well IMO you should always go with stock when it comes to the coil pack. The stock coil pack is more than able to fulfill all of your spark needs.
