Starter going???

For about 2 weeks now, my sixer has been having a little trouble starting up. Every time I turn the ignition, she shudders for a few seconds and seems like she's having trouble turning over, but then starts up just fine. Strange thing is, is that when the engine is hot, or I start it up withing a short span of time from me driving it somewhere, it doesn't have this problem. Only after about a 24 hour period does it do this. I'm thinking it might be the starter. Any opinions on what this could be?

Re: Starter going???

No I'm pretty sure it isn't the battery. When I got home from deployment, the battery was dead so I had to go out and buy a completely new one, and that was only about a month and a half ago.

Re: Starter going???

No not yet. I have a guy that said he was going to take a look at it. Just wanted to know if you guys had an early opinion on it at all.

Definately do a tune up on it first. To me what your describing isnt a starter issue, but the actual firing part.

Re: Starter going???

So possibly something as easy as the sparks plugs then? I'll take a look and update everyone as this thing progresses.

You can test it all before you just go buy. If you have a haynes manual it tells you how in there. But the coil has a test as well as the wires. The plugs are cheap enough it doesn't matter to much but u can test them too. How ling were you gone? Did you have someone who was supposed to start and move you car every so often? Ive heard of tires drying out or getting flat spots from sitting to long while people are gone. We usually have someone drive our car to work every other week or so when we deploy

Re: Starter going???

I was gone for about a year, but yes I did have someone move the car around and drive it every now and then to make sure things where okay with it. strange how this problem started.
