New Edge Cobra R conversion (just dreaming)

OK so here's a thought...a Cobra R is hard to find and always expensive right? You know what's a lot cheaper and probably litters junkyards? Triton 5.4s. Build/tune
to the 400hp mark, tie it to a strengthened T45/50...
My question is did Ford only build 300 of the SVT IRS? Or do they offer replacements, or maybe aftermarket alts?

For an exact clone you'll never make it. The intake molds have been destroyed along with several other vital parts.

If you just want to throw a 5.4 un a car then go for it.

I understand and acknowledge the engine wont be the same, but throw it to similar numbers with the tranny and cobra externals...who'd know the difference? Besides, what better way to stick it to the man than to build a stang that can keep up with the ever exclusive Cobra R?

Well yeh, you can build a close clone. Irs from a 03/04 cobra would be your best bet.

There is a thread over on Mach 1 registry ( The original cobra R build). One of the closest clones I've seen. It's very in-depth through entire build. Like 80 pages ha. Hope that helps.
