long tube header questions

Hey guys i have a 2000 v6 mustang and ive got intake exhaust and ive been putting some money aside for some headers, i want to go with long tube just because i dont really like half assing things but i dont know too much about them.

first off, would it be worth the hassel to go with the long tubes or should i just get the shortys, my cars not lowerd but it might be in the future and im probably only pushin bout 210hp at max.

second, i went with the pypes "true dual" exhaust kit and i wanted to know if i did go with longtubes would it fit straight or would i have to sawsall my ****?

Re: long tube header questions

i believe the shorties may be sufficient unless you plan on making big modifications down the road. what are your future plans?

Re: long tube header questions

Stock headers are good to 300 HP !! Shorties won't do **** other then change your exhaust note long tube will get ya about 5 to 8 increase and if your going to lower the car watch out for the speed bumps with long tubes

Long tubes are worthless without intake and head work. Put your money somewhere else.

Re: long tube header questions

Yeah, if you're not planning on making some serious power or getting head and intake work done...you don't need new headers....the money you spend on them will bite you in the *** later. My advice is spend the money set aside on the headers and install to get a nice set of rims since you said you want to make it look unique. What color is your car? I am a huge fan of black rims on a black car...especailly with a machined lip. Anyway, spend the cash on something mroe fun. If you want some go fast stuff....spend it on new gears (3.73 for manual and 4.10 for auto) and a good t-lok. Best mod you can do without expensive engine work IMO. ANyway, good luck with the car.....lots os options ahead of you.

Also....keep in mind...if you buy a new cam...you will almost have to get some head and intake work done....well...don't have too...just would let you get better use of the cam....hehe.
