Question Valet switch?? Location? Viper

Okay, My girl's 95 GT hasnt been turned on in 4 months.

We Jump it, but the car wont begin to turn over, obviously it's the alarm and it must be reset, right? Someone said the Valet switch, problems is she cant find it and I've yet to check it out myself. They said it's under the dash between the steering wheel and the radio. but found nothing.

Then she called her alarm place, they said it was by the kickpanel or diag plug. Can anyone confirm or deny?

There is a ton of stuff under her there but I cant find a black 1/4inch button

Happened to me after my car was down for like 8 months doing an install.

I tried charging it overnight with a deep cycle 2 amp charge. Nothing.

So I tried jumping the battery with my Honda. Nothing.

Finally I took the battery out of my Honda and tried that. Something, but it was nothing.

I had to go buy a new battery.

unless it is aftermarket there is no switch like that. The only thing that comes close would be the fuel pump cut off switch and I dont see that one being turned off unless you were in an accident or manually did it yourself.

You're gonna have to search for the unit. no telling exactly where they installed it. The most popular place that is closest to all the wires you have to tie into is in the driver side kick panel. Take it off and have a look, takes like 30 seconds, then pull the lower dashboard cover off the driver side and look up in there. It'll be a black box with alot of wires coming out of it. A little knob to turn sensitivity up and down and a (normally) white button for the valet mode.

Re: Valet switch?? Location? Viper

try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
(Note: some Ford dealers used CODE ALARM systems
as OEM factory. They are not. The LED may also
double as your valet switch)
in your dash area goes on solid, and the siren chirps once.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in opposite direction,
key off.)

This should reset the alarm.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.

If it does not respond, I suggest you take
it to the local stereo/alarm shop to
see if they can help. Ford will not know
the alarm, and can not help so save
some time there and don't bother.

Re: Valet switch?? Location? Viper

You need to locate either A) the valet switch if one exists, and if it does, look around under the dash on the driver's side, or down around the center console to the left of the radio... or B) you will need to disable the alarm brain (IF possible) to defeat the alarm from re-arming itself.

Whenever a car battery dies, if an alarm is on the vehicle, the alarm system will default to it's "set" values. So, if the batter dies, or you manually disconnect it - the next time a battery is reconnected, the alarm system will automatcially default to being in "armed mode". You have to defeat it by 1) key fob disabling, 2) valet switch or 3) worst case scenario would be to take it to someone who can disable the alarm brain and/or bypass the ignition cut off...

the valet may be mounted on a plastic panel or zip-tied to a wiring harness. If you can't find it, locate the main unit, look for a blue plug with two wires in it and follow it to the switch.
