Cold Air Kit

Just looking for advice on a cold air kit for my 3.8. What brand names seem to be working for you guys and what kind of true hp should I expect? Thanks for your help.

Re: Cold Air Kit

Buy a cheap-o ebay kit and look to gain about -1 horsepower overall.

Re: Cold Air Kit

as lowflyn stated, CAIs are a bit overrated. realistically, they dont do THAT much (maybe a few HP and better gas mileage) but it is a necessary step in the mod list. id go with whatever (probably the cheapest you can find) unless you can afford something a bit nicer. the gains are all pretty much the same.

Re: Cold Air Kit

If you install a K&N filter and remove the silencer, won't you get the same results ?

Re: Cold Air Kit

the only reason not to go with a cheap ebay brand as they look like crap... consider a cai a look mod rather than a power gain mod.

Re: Cold Air Kit

I would not say a CAI is totally worthless, but to gain the max out of them I would recomend the other parts that will complement them. I do disagree with the general concecus that you will gain nothing. On the average look to gain about 5 WHP over stock and the Ebay CIA is just good as any other CIA as far as design and looks go <but that is just my humble opinion>

Also look into the total bolt on build up to produce the best results!
