Windstar

Since I can't get the kit right now cause vap is discontinuing them. From someone who did the swap what year windstar is the intake from and what are all of the parts you had in the kit to use? I am planning on hitting a junkyard and getting all the necessary parts and deep cleaning them and such. Any help would be appreciated

Re: Windstar

The intake itself, the iac, and EGR bracket from the yard, you can copy VAP's instructions and make a similar kit, you can still buy pieces of the kit in sure which would make it easier on you like the angled spacer and the coil bracket

Re: Windstar

96-98 windstar upper is what you need. if you lived near me I would let you take the brackets off one at a time and copy them so you can make your own.

Just piece it together that's what I'm going to do. An yes for the 01 windstar for some reason ford made a better intake for the 2001 windstar so all you need is the upper and lower from it but you will need to find pieces to make it fit. I would suggest you look at the kit and see what it contains so you have an idea of what to search for, if it's what you want it's where you would start.

Re: Windstar

Are the later windstar intakes as good as the 96-98 uppers that VAP sells? Do they produce the same HP and TQ?

Yeah that's what I'm wondering, if the newer one is better. Also Would I really have to use the lower intake from the Windstar too? Would the Windstar upper not just bolt right up to my stock lower?

Is it only for the 94-98 mustangs that would need the upper and lower? Cause I know you need the lower just not sure what years needed them

The 94-98 first need a split port then they can get the Windstar. They have a lot more work to do

the 99-03 style windstar intakes flow better than the 96-98 intakes, and yes if you do the newer setup you must have lower and upper do to the modified design of being 6 intake ports at the entrance of the lower that split into 12 inside the lower intake, however the 96-98 windstars upper intake will bolt right to the 99-04 mustang V6 lower intake

despite ford leaving the numbers the same from factory (it's a minivan, like they cared to test it) from 96-03 the newer style is a better setup in terms of flow

I'd like to compare windstar intake with supersixmotorsports package compared to supersixmotorsports intake and package. Package including heads/cam/lower intake

Well the power delivery will be a little different cuz the Windstar changes the power band a little but so will a cam so idk it would be interesting. Basically you want the highest average HP and highest average TQ, not necessarily the peak HP and peak TQ.

Re: Windstar

the windstar would yield a lot better curves than a ported factory upper intake due to the modified runner lengths on the short and long runners...
