Are emission standards now making cars more restrictive than our cars were when they were produced. I have a 2001 v6 and my friend is claiming that my car isn't nearly as restrictive due to emissions as the scion frs and other new cars being produced. Any thoughts?

The emissions are harder now but engine run cleaner. They had to do a lot of things to make our air friendly. But It's not a bad thing as it also tend to increase the mpg

What would you say to the statement that the 2001 mustang had a more restrictive engine than a 2013 mustang?

I don't know about the new engine exhaust. We have two cats plus two extra for noise. A lot of sensors for emissions. But the newer mustang are a different engine so I would guess it would be the same

Plus I thought the newer stang's had mufflers and resonators? Or a couple of muffler, to make em quieter. People for some reason don't like buying a new car that's loud.

I think "restrictive" was meant as "removes more emissions, functions more effectively, ect."
