All depends on what you consider cheap. Cai and dual exhaust combo may give you about ten. Or of you have the knowledge a DIY port and polish on the intake manifold

get a CAI, probably the cheapest you will get, a bbk is about $180 but if you wanna go cheaper you can find kits on american muscle for around $80-$100, then look into gettin an exhaust. Probably your best bet

---------- Post added at 11:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:12 AM ----------

Or just get the CAI And combine it with a new throttle body a throttle body will run you about $250 but i believe american muscle has a combo deal for the throttle body and the CAI if you buy them together to save some money. This combo will give you that horse power you want and for a good price and easy to install. Its all up to you what you consider cheap if its to much.... then just save up that cash! Some times thats what we gotta do to do what we wanna do to our cars

Yeah a CAI would maybe give you 5 with a tune. I'd do a Windstar and a tuner also, but you could go with the CAI and exhaust to see if you can get close to that. But really to start unlocking power from bolt-ons you're gonna need a tuner. Also one guy here bought a 3.8 supercoupe motor from a thunderbird for $500 and dropped it in. Another, pieced together a DIY turbo kit for $500 using a turbo from a 2.3 motor. Given these guys had to do and spend a little extra to get these swaps to work smooth, $500 isn't really a lot when you consider how much power you can gain. Another thing to think about is not adding ponys under the hood but making your motor work less. Weight reduction kit(remove rear seat, etc), aluminum drive shaft and flywheel, or a j-mod for an auto tranny, get a upgraded lighter k-member, fiberglass fenders and hood, lower gears. There's quite a bit you can do to help with making your car "quicker".

Gears, tuner,Windstar. Cheap and easy power. 500 dollar turbo don't exist sorry to say and also remember he wanted to add horsepower. Weight reduce doesn't add horsepower and Jmod dont add HP either.

---------- Post added at 12:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:59 AM ----------

A motor swap is a great way to gain power but It's better to just buy the car. For swap you need almost all the parts or need to make custom parts or get rid of small things

Re: Need a cheep 10 horsepower

cai/exhaust should both net about 10hp at the wheels. Underdrive pulley wont do it (probably)

A tune may do it~

Yeah but your going to spend about 300 for Cai and exhaust. It's better to spend on Windstar or tuner which have a gain of about 10

Just a tuner. That's it. but it depends on how cheap your budget is.. Let's say 500..... Get a tuner and pair it with AM cai... Or custom true dual exhaust, it cost me 300 in the shop pair it with a cai, msd wires and ngk plugs... Or just a windstar kit for 500$ if vap still have it... Throttle body is not a good idea.

Well if u want a tb get a cheap gt one once you have a Windstar. But tuner is the best bet for 500 and will help with future problems or new mods

I didnt say weight reduction or j-mod would add horsepower. I said it would help make your car quicker. For instance our cars weigh around 3100 and we make about 193HP, that's about 16lb per HP. If you were able to lose 300 pounds putting your car at 2800lbs, that's 14lbs per HP. You're clearly not "adding" power but making less weigh to move. Hence making your car work less and quicker. I do believe a DIY $500 turbo is possible it wont be the full potential you may want but if you can get a good deal on used parts, clean em up and install it yourself it's totally possible. Plus that small turbo could easily give 10hp. Please note im saying it's "possible". I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm right and everyone can get a sweet set up for $500. I totally agree a good turbo set up will cost around 2000.

A throttle body with a cai will gain your hp and for the both together is cheaper then exhaust

K members can shed some weight go with fiberglass hood and fenders, the Windstar intake saves like 20lbs or something like that, the aluminum drivetrain, some control arms may be lighter(probably not much tho), smaller rims will help, I bet race seats are lighter than the stock ones with the adjusting motors in em, manuals are lighter than autos, right? People can make that switch. For me it's getting myself to lose weight lol that will help

I have racing seats. The stock leather power seat weights a ton. Also every 100 pounds is about .1 seconds but come on people make the car really fun is to make it enjoyable. Sway bars, spring,Tlock, gears, tuner, exhaust. That all on a cheap budget

Re: Need a cheep 10 horsepower

anyone here dyno a car before and after the little mods....i've seen sixxers do just that and to net 10 hp to the wheels it can take more then intake/exhaust...now if we're talking a windstar then yes..on a local sixxer there was a 9 rwhp and 15 ft lbs of tq gain with it (with the full cai on it of course)..

sadly cheap and hp doesn't go hand in hand op, but if your budget can handle a few hundred you can be pleasantly surprised with the outcome at least from your butt dyno

why 10 hp though?

the couple v6's ive seen hit a dyno stock usually net around 150 rwhp if they are in good condition and taken care of. a full N/A build can net you around the 230ish range if you want to go that route. sadly that's a lot of money that most don't have to toss at a car on most days...the other route is a power adder which can be equally expensive. what i'd reccomend to do is sit down and do research on both routes and see which would be best for you, and what you want out of the car

I think a good one would be a Windstar, full exhaust with a tuner. I bet that would get at least 10.

Your not even putting 190 to the rear wheels tho. Remember hp is lost between the motor and rear end your putting down 150 hp to the rear stock add exhaust, intake, maybe a few bolt ons and a tuner you'll be putting 180 down....

A tb is worth 240 a bbk cai is 180? = 400+$ ... i do not believe that a cai and a tb will give you 10 hp on a stock motor. It's not worth it. Better go windstar!
