Headers

Was thinking about ordering headers for my car these weekend and was wondering long or shorts? Open to all opinions. Was thinking longs because I like the sound of this guys exhaust.

No not sure on brand. Only one I found so far is pacesetter and reviews weren't good on the black coat ones. Have to look again tomorrow. Bar was calling my name.

shorties are a waste of cash on 3.8/3.9's...not only that but don't give the same overall tone that LT's give. well even a waste on 2v 4.6's but thats another section all together

Shorties are useless for 94-98... But not a waste of money for 99-04... Yes they don't give the same sound as LT's...

we've run both shorties and LTs on the same car and the butt dyno alone is worth the tiny bit higher price tag. of course that's just one experience on a 3.8 built to a 4.2 with corresponding mods

I have an 07 gt and it impressed me. I just love the tone it gave the car. As log as you get tuned length shorties then it's not a waste.

there's a vast difference between a 3v 4.6 and a 2v 3.8/3.9 and how they take to mods

If you are gonna go through the trouble of the install go with the LT's the shorties don't flow anymore than the stock manifolds, with that in mind you don't really see any big gains with the LT's untill you start to make some big hp #'s

LT's are great but keep in mind with where you live they may not pass emissions or may be illegal all together like on cali

These headers will pass emissions just as long as you keep your your catalytic convrtors on you'll just need a shorty mid pipe. The only downside why i didn't go for LT's was you need to lift the motor off the mount a lil bit for much easier installation, i'm workin alone with my car that is why. If you have friends to help you or have the budget to let a shop install for u go for it! LT's!!! But i still disagree that a shorty headers for 99-04 is not worth it... It's worth the money! har har!!!

i'm sorry you feel the need to bash on smaller engines. this may be caused due to your current education level, or how endowed you are. both can cause the comments i've seen you make in this and other threads. Please keep those comments out of this section man. You just drive a GT....i've had v8's and v6's, and they both have their pro's and con's. Unless you're going to be constructive about the cars in this section please just keep out. Also keep in mind what works for your car doesn't exactly work the same for these cars. Hope this helped

back on the LT subject...i hope you enjoy whatever you pick

I don't think I would waste time doing a shorty install on a 3v unless it was supercharged and and in a strict emissions state.

Either way the v6 isn't going to respond to a shorty header, been discussed, dynoed and the gains aren't worth the price.

I'll take my front facing mid lengths any day.

One thing I haven't seen said about LTs.. Please be mindful that if you lower your car it will be hell to drive on bad roads. LTs will hang low and will hit anything remotely raised.

I kindly disagree. Roads in Baton Rouge and New Orleans have so many crowns and uneven surfaces that it's impossible to miss them all. I scrape like crazy all over Baton Rouge. I don't scrape on speed bumps. It's not a matter of driving.. It's just a matter of the roads.

Its the driver or the header install... Granted I'm not 100% sure how long GT headers hang. Look around Baton Rogue you will find a few "hella flush crowd" import owners that could take reflectors off the road if they changed lanes too quick and cars are still together.

I had long tubes and dropped, I scraped going over speed bumps when i forgot to angle the car, some places you just won't avoid it but its not a huge deal unless you drive like an idiot.
