Re: vht

I did my foglights and it did cause the light output to look purple. In the daytime it looks pretty good. I would post a pic but I'm on a gov. computer so I can't.

Ive just used the rustoleum brand of tinting, it stays black, not purple at all, and when I used the spray tinting I used a clear coat when done, helps keep it from cracking over time

I have done it and wouldn't recommend it. It didn't make the light look purple but it dimmed them pretty bad.

So I guess my question is which would be better for the headlights? I'm not goin ultra dark anyway, like 2-3 coats. Is that still light enough, or would it still look purple?

i'm still 100% against tinted headlights unless they're smoked from the inside, but here's 3 coats and a clear...like i said been there done that and i didn't like it even with 55w 6k headlights

Re: vht

I tried the rustoleum route.. that didn't go over well. hunched over my wheel at night because I couldn't see. Best bet is to get some covers that you can take off at night (sold on Americanmuscle.com), or get headlights that are smoked.. not the lenses though. It wont pass inspection if it's too dark (the lens). Found that out first hand.

Well it seems the spray is my best bet at customization since its the cheapest. I think I'll go 2 coats all around and see how that looks. I have super bright Piaa bulbs so I dont think light will be a problem. What clear coat do you guys suggest?

All depends on where you live. I don't do it cuz I'd prolly get pulled over in like 2 seconds. It lets light through but I don't feel like enough. Looks nice tho. Do maybe some eyebrows on it, that isn't as bad but still looks nice

I would really worry about nighttime visibility, like driving at night with sunglasses.

I agree they look cool, but not at the risk of my safety.

That's why I took it off mine. Couldn't see worth a damn, even with silverstar ultra bulbs.

Piaa bulbs are weaksauce compared to even 35w HIDs...i had 55w and it was still horrible at night. just a heads up man and hope that helps.
