I need a new clutch. Any recomendations?

I'm planning a clutch job here on my 99 stang and would like a clutch that has been battle tested, to hold up to mild hp.

Got any recomendations for me to research?

I really like my stage 2 spec clutch. If you're gonna replace your clutch, do an aluminum flywheel as well. It will make a HUGE difference!

Re: I need a new clutch. Any recomendations?

I just replaced my clutch last Friday. I installed an OEM LuK that I picked up at NAPA. 7 parts stores in town, 3 carried brands I had never heard of, 1 said theirs was a Sachs, but when I got there it was another brand I had never heard of, and 3 carried LuK. Napa was the cheapest. Full kit was $148.

Even with my mods, I don't expect I have enough torque to exceed OEM limitations. I already know that I'm not going to ungrade the I/H/C or add F/I.

Thats good to know the stock is decent.

I ordered one from advanced auto and after internet discount it was $142. Even came with pilot bearing. Buy Perfection Clutch New Clutch Set MU70152-1 at Advance Auto Parts

And it also gave me a $50.00 gift certificate for the purchase of over 100 bucks that goes toward the next 100.00 purchase. So I'm happy.

I got some work to do this weekend!

And whats nice is perfection clutches are made by the same company that makes zoom clutches....which ive used and loved. In fact if you havent swapped your oem plastic quadrant for a metal one id look into that next...

I love my SPEC Stage1 clutch kit and SPEC bullet steel flywheel. It feels perfect, has performed perfect for years now.

the factory clutch is going to hold a good amount of HP and its cheap so consider that.

Re: I need a new clutch. Any recomendations?

Well i'm pissed at advanced auto parts.
I did the clutch job this weekend and now the peddle vibrates when released in neutral (or any gear) at 1500-2200 rpm.
I even had the flywheel turned to make sure it was smooth.

Looks like i'll be buying a brand new flywheel and a ford clutch kit.
