Show me your stang with lowering springs

I have been looking for lowering springs, I like the H&R springs. I don't want it to low and i really dont want to install camber caster plates. Tell me if you had to do additional work with your springs, other then alignment.

Re: Show me your stang with lowering springs

cut your stockers....in most cases it'll out perform lowering springs for weight transfer when launching. i've done this on numerous stangs so if you have questions just ask

as for other work....1.25 coils off the front and 1 coil off the back will give it a nice stance without needing C&C plates because it's just around a 1.5" drop on the front

when you go to cut you'll know exactly which side to cut from...because one side will have to sit back in it just like it came out. so no worries there

here's one i did...i'd post more but photobucket is getting worked on apparently :/

I love the way it looks on my car and without a rear sway bar you can feel the difference with and without the spoiler at high speeds

Defiantly not. You can disagree with me all you want but I've had two stangs both new edge one with and one without and especially on windy days on the highway you can feel the difference doing about 75. In my new one which was wingless til about three days ago the whole rear end would feel like it sways a little when ever you change lanes quick or the wind blows across the highway. And I've gone 115 on a ummmm.... Street track lol in my old one and it stuck right to the ground and I did about 105 in my new one before thing wing and it constantly felt like I was going to lose the rear end

i'm on my 3rd new edge...both GT models and v6's...i would swap the wing on and off every other week depending on my mood and which look i liked more. up to 147 i couldn't tell a difference with it on or off if i'm being honest. if your rear is kicking out at just into the triple digits you may need to really take a look at your suspension and see if everything is in good working order because safety first before doing anything like that

My car is almost brand new with 98k on it and before I put the wing on...and yes I've tested that speed after the wing was on....my new edge with 190k on the stock suspension and a spoiler hugged the ground better. My car rides like a dream with the wing on it and everyone that has ridden in my car agrees. and idk what weather is like where you are but up here in the valleys and gullets we get terrible crosswinds that blow across the highways and have been known to force semi trailers to change lanes and you can defiantly feel the difference with and without the wing. Not trying to argue but I know it's not in my head. There's no way that the suspension on a car that I've had since 150k and beat the piss out of would handle better than one with 98 k and a brand new suspension. And that I could easily feel the difference driving on a windy day

i wouldn't call 98k miles of DD on a suspension new, but to each their own. the average mileage of the new edges i have owned started at 20k miles, the next was 70k, and the latest one is 40k. if the wing makes a difference to you then that's all that matters i supose

---------- Post added at 04:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:22 PM ----------

ah found another pic of an older stang of mine with cut springs OP...just a cruising shot so it's nice and level, but once at a stop of course the back would lift about a 1/2" or so

for me i pegged the GT both with and without and couldn't tell a difference...same for the sixxer, but there's a good difference in what pegging the car is lol. not sure what it is for other peoples experiences. the only time i've ever noticed a spoiler doing anything was when i had that saleen wing on the GT for a short period of time, but it's basically a whale tail lol

Reason I asked us because I've tried both wingless and wing on and I honestly couldn't feel any difference either.... And I'm not the type of driver that itches to go over 100 mph every time I drive my car so I guess I'll never understand the difference.

Air dynamics, the stock v6 spoiler is good ascetics at best... Def not helping you do anything at 75mph::

wonder why ford didn't just throw cobra r wings on everything

agreed on the speeding thing. usually i only hit those speeds when cruising with the local mustang group and we're doing cruises across the state for certain events like Dragon Runs or NMRA finals

Wow. Lmao

The stock spoiler on a 99-04 mustang gt or v6 doesn't do anything other than change the look of your car.

If you can feel a difference it's in your mind.

Well I painted my V6 wing black which makes it a Mach1 wing now so I could honestly say I do feel a significant change as far as downforce is concerned....

Not trying to change the topic again and I apologize to the original poster. Everyone's car feels different and I'm running a completely stock suspension and if anyone feels like driving to new York I would gladly take them for a ride on our highways to prove them wrong.

And on the topic is there anywhere I can get a more detailed description of cutting the stock springs?

Find a local race track (like road race) , go take a drivers course with an instructor, then go to a race day (with some real race cars) jump in the group of actual racers, and exclaim: "so anyway my stock spoiler helps me at 75mph with my cars stability" let us know what comes from this experiment.
