Small bullitt rims center cap issue

Bought these new rims and tires, and they needed center caps. I bought the SR center caps (small) on Americanmuscle.com, and they looked great. Hit a small pothole today and one of them dashed off, never to be seen again . They are about $10 a piece and I don't want this to keep happening. Whats a good trick for keeping them in? Clear silicone maybe? Will I ever need to take just the center cap off for a repair?

Thanks!

Don't glue them! I work at discount tire and today we had some enkies with stuck caps. When you go to balance them, the caps need to come out. What you could do is buy or make a larger metal ring to sit inside of the cap if it has that. Otherwise, I'm not really sure how to fix that... maybe Velcro or something on the hub and back of the cap? Or magnets to help keep the attraction strong enough to hold but not so strong that it wont come out.

Silicone would be fine because it stays rubbery. You'd be able to peal them off if you had to. Just don't forget to re silicone them.

jrmustang02,

I'm sorry to hear about the center cap issue your experiencing. Are you running AM wheels on the car?

Either way, a small amount of silicone should do the trick for you. Let us know how that works out & if we can be of any further assistance!

Thanks Dan!

The silicone did the trick. I bought the rims used from someone, not off of AM. The center caps look great and the other ones have had no problems. I just took a ride to the city a couple days ago and it came off when I hit a pothole. This in no way effects me as a customer, you guys are still the best.
