turning on A/C effects clutch?

so I realized something strange. with windows opened, I have no need for the A/C but due to the aerodynamics, opening windows while driving kills the fuel economy. problem is, whenever I DO turn on the A/C while driving, the clutch feels softer than usual and it just doesn't feel right. does anyone have any ideas on why this happens?

It's actually been proven several times that driving with your windows down and a/c off doesn't effect fuel economy compared to windows up and a/c off. Driving with the a/c on can lower fuel economy by as much as 10 miles per gallon depending on the car.

I have nothing on your clutch question other than it just feels softer due to the motor having more parasitic drag with the a/c on.

Well the ac and windows do effect gas mpg. Remember the ac uses power to make it work. So the engine works harder. Windows open effects with drag at higher speeds maybe not much but everything adds up

Re: turning on A/C effects clutch?

the best way that i can describe it is that the clutch pedal feels as if it's vibrating as i am depressing it while switching gears when the A/C is turned on as when I have the A/C switched off, it doesn't feel like it's vibrating at all

Well I'm not sure about the clutch but i would think maybe the cable is touching something from the ac. But I would just check around the ac and see if anything jumps at you
