gt vs v6

Why does us v6 cars wanna beat a gt so much. I think i have a couple ideas. We wanna make them feel like they made the wrong choice. Wanna have a gt engine. They are about 60 more HP then our cars. But i feel like instead of hate or trying to beat them we should enjoy what you. Looks, cheap and reliable

Talking Re: gt vs v6

I just order a GT CA Special vert, I took a test drive with a V6, to me its was just fine, my 20 year old son begg me to get the V8 CA Special. Both rides are great! The V6 will save you $$$ in the gas tank, no ? about it. To get the CA Special package I had to get the V8.

not really...my GT and v6 had maybe a 2-3 mpg difference...if that's really breaking the bank i don't need to be on a mod site

although i'm driving the v6 again right now there's still something more fun in the GT though when you drive a car with that much more kick stock for stock. but i like both cars for their looks

Re: gt vs v6

If i wanted a GT I would have bought one. For some (like me) It's not about performance, insurance, availability, resale value, or even MPG... I simply got what I wanted. Period. No further explanation necessary....

Ok, I digress, I do have one issue with my car that "if I had noticed it during the test drive" would have been a "no way in hell am I gonna buy this car" and that is the mere fact that my car came without cruise control... THAT was something that I neglected to notice until it was too late. Aside from that minor issue, my car is exactly what I wanted.

YOUR CAR should be exactly what you want.... want a V8? GO GET ONE!

On a side note: I beat GT's every day... with MPG! Around 24 city, over 30 highway for the past 6,000 miles. I have gotten as high as 36 mph on the 55 mph backroads of Minnesota. Recently though, I will admit that when I went from Watertown to Sioux Falls and back last Saturday I only got 24 mpg highway... I was going 85-90 mph both directions and that killed my mpg, mostly because headed south I was going into a 25-30 mph headwind. Even under those circumstances you have to admit 24 mpg at 85 mph ain't that bad!

Short story: Find the car you want and buy it. Enjoy it for what it is, not what you wish it was. If your goal is to blow away Mustang GT's then buy a Hayabusa.

I was kinda drunk.... just sayin'...........

Re: gt vs v6

I dont believe most simply want to beat a GT to make that car feel inferior. For many years the V8 Mustang has been the benchmark in terms of comparing cars racing. Especially on a Mustang Forums....

The V6 owners just want the same things V8 owners do, more power, more performance, better looks, etc. V6 owners can love their car just as much if not more than V8 owners. Just because you spent more to buy the V8 or decided a V8 was better for your needs than someone that went the V6 route doesnt mean either are worse off, its just what you decided on.

It is true that all things equal the V8 is the better power choice but thats not always what someone wants. Its not just about the power but about getting there, some want a challenge, to be different, or perhaps the car was just what they ended up with and they like it and want to modify it.

I have owned 3 V6's and 1 V8 Mustang (well currently own a V6 and a V8) I like both and both are 100% Mustangs and without the V6 there would be no V8 as the sales wouldnt be there to support it

I owned a '99 v6 as my first car. It is a great car but at the same time, it can't produce the sound of the v8. Plus mine got 13 MPG city and something was screwed up. So with my 2003 gt, it actually gets better MPG and has the sound for my liking. Also mine was a steal of a deal. So that made me feel good too. My old v6 used to be able to beat gts around my area and I thought that was funny too.

Re: gt vs v6

I never wanted to beat a gt...

that's not even hard, vettes, cobras, LSx cars, supras, boosted imports thats more fun.

And @Just_Jon what do you have done? the mods in your signature won't beat a GT.. unless you mean a 95 gt with 220k

the gt guys have been dicks to me in the past. They just make fun of me for having a six cylinder and tell me I will never beat them. Not saying all Gt Guys are like that I'm just saying they haven't been very chill. Only guys that help me are cobra guys, cameo guys and my fellow six cylinder owners

Re: gt vs v6

I agree- So simple,... Because it's easy enough to out power them, create performance suspension systems that are light and maneuverable. Mod-up with go-fast ~ stop-fast parts and pieces matched up with something like Stage3 internals and a blower or two and my 3.8 Badge stays right where it is,...same spot to kiss my ***.

Revving your engine up at a stop light is as iconic as the mustang itself.

Lol I have a bone stock v6 and everyone with some form of sporty car likes to rev at me or cut me off and try to get me to race them. If this happens to anyone else try what I do lol. Let them pull up next to you at a light and start revving. Give them a serious look and give your car a nice rev. Then when the light turns green and they chirp their tires and take off... Drive away from the light nice and easy. Makes them look like idiot every time...especially when they get pulled over a mile or two...

These threads never end well..

A lot of ppl(v6 or v8) end up becoming just like who they hate.. Don't become what you hate. Be humble, be happy.

As someone who has owned 3 tiers of mustangs (94 v6, 96gt, 03mach 1) feel qualified to say that I like all stangs as long as they are stock or tastefully modified. I do see way more v6s with embarassing crap on them.
