emergency!

Guys I'm an idiot and reved my 97 3.8 really loud but not to like 5000rpm and my car has a nasty rattling noise, and was smelling bad. ( what is it?

probably busted the insides of a cat...does the rattle come from the exhaust? what's it smell like? because you'll know a catless car just from the smell alone lol

It sounds lik under hood. Loud rattling, and smoke smells like something burnt underhood.

can you take a vid? if so pop the hood and get to taking that. if not can you explain it a bit more. where is the rattling coming from...try getting low on the motor and tracing hte smell...if it's something burnt it should be easy to find

is the idle ok?

The idle just sounds just as rattly as accel. Constast, click click click click loud. Its already night and I have no light so ima put one up on morning, but when I reved loud smoke came from underhood.

yeah you blew something...maybe a spark plug if the idle is as off as you say.

well if it blew out the plug then you'll probably end up having to re thread the hole for a new plug. tomorrow check all the plugs and snap that vid

This prolly would have happened anyways just a coincidence with you revving.. Our cars can handle it.. Maybe you burned up your control module or something like that? I ant explain the clicking lol

well if it was the spark plug the revving was part of the issue....yes it would have already been close to going, but putting that much pressure on it didn't help
