v6-v8 5.0 swap?

Hey. Ik I'm probably getting annoying by me asking all these different ways of beefing up my mustang. But what all is intailed in swaping out my engine to a 5.0? I heard that I can keep my trans and only need a new bell housing. :/ I'm new to all of this (car modding) and I'm trying to learn everything i can.

Mines a '95. I'm still trying to decide if I shuld turbo my v6 (will be buying a 99+ 3.8 if I stay v6) or if I shuld do the swap. And start off with that motor. And turbo it. Imma turbo no matter what motor imma get.

u should go with a v8. its easier for the 94-95 v6's to swap to the 5.0 then me putting the 5.0 in my 01. but if i find the engine and tranny cheap then why not.

I hear that the old style 5.0 isnt the best to mod. They only have 200hp stock. Wish I culd get my hands on a 2012... hehe 412hp....

Would it be cheaper to do get 600hp with my current v6, swap in a 5.0v8, or swap in a 4.6 v8. All wuld have a blower on them. Im meaning cheap by figuring in the price of the swap + what it wuld take to build the motor for the blower. Wuld I need a new trans or can I just swap the bell housing (mines a manual), do I need a new drive-shaft, and how much usually is a 8:8 rear end?

If your goal is 600 hp I'm pretty sure u will need an 8.8 rear end, racing drive shaft and ether swap out ur tranny or mod the one u have cuz stock can't handle 600 hp. And a 5.0 you will get more hp for your money with each mod and a 5.0 can handle more boost on stock internals.

Lol ok my next question. What one is gunna give me the least headaches. I meanin mpg first. And I hear that the 4.6 is superior to the 5.0. There is a 2003-2004 cobra svt 4v dohc 4.6 supercharged motor that makes a lil over 400ph/torque stock. And also I've heard a lot about the old 5.0 blowing up a lot or not being reliable.

Honestly I don't know much about the 4.6. I've done a lot of research and tlked to a lot of ppl about a 5.0 swap cuz I'm getting ready to do one and it bolts right up where the 3.8 went and the tranny bell houseing is the same size. If ur worried about mpg with a 5.0, and so was I, get a built AOD (withch is what I did) instead of a 3 gear tranny, or go 5 speed. I have friends who get 25 mpg like that. Got another friend who leans his fuel/air ratio out a lil an gets 28 highway.

I've already got the 5speed. No offense but my personal oppinion is that a muscle/sports car shuldnt be auto. Plus there r so many more advantages to having a clutch.

I understand, I considered converting to manual but 1. I'm not sure how 2. my built AOD is only gonna cost 1200 and it will handle 450 hp 3. its my daily driver and shifting in rush hour would drive me crazy. I would do some research and find out what your 5 speed can handle. From wat I've been told manuals that can handle 600 hp arnt cheap. But I'm into fox bodys, for all I know the newer stock ones might b able to.

Mine I've been told can handle around 400hp. And ya see I love shifting and nvr get tired of that feel. From the sounds of if auto is best for u. Plus what is your car built for? Drag, drift, etc?

I was told mine could handle 350 so I did a little research to figure out wat the weakest links were and replaced them with racing parts. And Im getting a stall converter and shift kit. I'm wanting a daily dragster. Unfortunately its gonna b e while till I get there.
