01 Mustang VS 98 Trans Am

My friend says there no way my 2001 V6 can beat his 1998 Trans AM WS6. Both are manuals. So I need help. With all the mods I've heard of and seen for my car, is it possible to beat him?

Naturally aspirated I don't see it happening, those are low 13 second cars and were really fast for their time.

The lt1 is pretty impressive, but that ls1 is even faster.

Right now it's stock. I plan to get a Windstar intake, CAI, a bigger throttle body, a perfomance tune, 3.73 race gears, a slip diff, and a short shifter put in. That is just for starters.

98 was first year for the LS1 in those cars. Stock they run low to mid 13's. Your basic mods and those cars get into the 12's pretty easy. I'm not sure about how those V6's respond to mods, but I would think the internals would limit you from getting under 12's. It'd be cool to see that though. I know the Grand Nationals were bad a$$ back in the day, but the engine internals were built for the boost.

Re: 01 Mustang VS 98 Trans Am

Hey, I'm just curious. I'm new to mustangs. And I plan to get the V8 so I can at least hold my own a little better than with a V6

Re: 01 Mustang VS 98 Trans Am

turbo w/stock internals will beat a t/a

decent n/a setup and 100 shot will beat a t/a
hell this guy has a decent n/a setup and 100 shot and runs faster than the 2011 gt... and 03 cobras... and a ton of other **** he beat his friends stalled ls z28 and runs faster than some bolt on / 4.10 / cammed ls1's that I know.

(stock internals also)

I believe 330-350 is more accurate.

To the OP, do not waste your time on the WS6. He will smoke you stock for stock or bolt on for bolt on.

The white v6 I posted doesn't make 330rwhp and would destroy a ws6.

2nd part is correct, bolt on for bolt on a LS1 trans am smokes any mustang up until the 03/04 cobra.
