98 3.8 into 96 3.8

i have a 98 v6 engine practically new what is required to put it into a 96? some have told me to just switch the timing cover and sensors. is that correct?

96 v6 mustang: dual exhaust, 99 GT wheels
coming mods: 4.2 swap, cam, cold air intake, ported heads and lower intake
