Figuring out for later plans...

I'm trying to decided what to do with the rear end of the car. I could take the 7.5 and build it up with gears and tlock and probably have it good for 300hp or I could try to find a GT rear build that and swap that in. I was looking at my suspension plans and with the 7.5 rear, I'm told I can't use a panhard bar. I have a general idea what it does but would it be worth the upgrade to the 8.8 and be able to use the panhard bar on a street/autox car? I plan on doing lower rear control arms as well so would I really need the bar or could I get away without it and still have good handling characteristics? I imagine that most of you would say upgrade to the GT rear anyway just because, but I was wondering on your thoughts about that matter. Thanks.

I'd say go ahead with the 8.8. You never know when the 7.5 will go and that'll leave you with buying an 8.8 then. Just go ahead and spend the money now.

Re: Figuring out for later plans...

With regards to axles and such, is it really necessary to upgrade these on a dailly driver car that will be used for autox? I've seen a lot of people upgrade for drag racing but would it be useful at autox? Thanks.

I would upgrade to an 8.8 rather than build a 7.5 that can go at any time even at stock power levels. Generally they hold up good but an 8.8 isnt that much.

I broke the 7.5 on my v-6... going through an intersection at half throttle. The 8.8 I put in never had issues. Also, you'll love the two tire spin. It's pretty much awesome

You should be fine with the 28 spline stock setup in the 8.8. If you start running slicks and have good torque number then I'd worry about a 31 spline setup. But for what you're wanting the stock 28 splines should be fine.

Cool thanks guys. Yeah I'm gonna keep my eyes open for a 8.8 rear then. If anyone hears of anything available please give me a heads up. Thanks

Re: Figuring out for later plans...

When swapping to a 8.8 rear with the stock 6 tranny and driveshaft, do they line up right or do I need to get a spacer for any size differences? Thanks
