This is just a guess(I have a 5.0) But depending on the age of your car and mileage, you may want to do a full rebuild, check block/magnaflux, forged pistons with lower compression, new bearings... It all depends on how much boost you want to run. You could probably get away with 5psi of boost without doing anything to your bottom end, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will correct me if im wrong. Good luck !

I've seen someone bend all six rods at once (factory motor) because it started detonating and well.. That's where it ended up

The blocks are very strong not very often do they give, just like other motors abuse it before it warms up any and you can have problems and crack it

The rods and pistons are the main week points, whereas the crank is good for even the big 600+ rwhp monsters, it has never been broken to my knowledge

On stock motor if you have a really really good tune you can push 450rwhp if its in good shape and not fret too much, but generally after 400 it's a good idea to upgrade to a forged rotating assembly

Thanks, so 6-8 is what I hear is reasonable boost for a stock engine, so lets say I wanna bump it to 10-12 once in a while but wanna keep my reliability, what should I do? I heard something about head gaskets going out, but I don't see how boost would do that... What could I do to keep my reliability while on boost

10-11 is DD status lol on a stock motor you'll make about 300rwhp with a supercharger at that, probably 320 range on turbo because more efficient, head gaskets are a common problem but don't require much to prevent, don't overheat and if you're doing a head swap look into arp head studs

Isn't it just pretty much fuel pressure I'm adjusting?

I blew my engine up on a 400+ mile long trip with my dad. We were 20 miles away from are destination and it was nothing but smooth road. no more hills or anything.
The previous owners before me left it sitting for over year. It looked like it rusted from inside the water jacket and into the cylinder.

tuning yourself N/A sure less risk, FI? not a first time thing at all.. maybe if you have someone experienced helping you but not alone

It's all about watching the air fuel ratio making sure it doesn't lean but experience helps in all aspects

Yea I'm gonna put a 255 pump in and try to max out my stock injectors, you get a finer mist that way, if you have such a big injector with no pressure it's harder to burn the fuel, but I plan on starting the tune with pressure full and just turning down little by little until it almost goes lean

With that comment I would call you not so bright, stock injectors on a boosted motor? Lmao you'll need cobra injectors at least.. I'm barely using the stock 21# injectors in my N/A car, boost requires more injector than N/A situations
