How do I upgrade a 3.8 V6?

I need some help on how to soup up my 03 3.8L V6. I am getting ready to purchase alot of upgrades from American Muscle. I am getting,
BBK CAI
BBK 65mm Throttle Body
3.73 Gears
True Duel Exhaust (Flowmaster 40's)
Accel Super EDIS coil pack

I would like to know is there any bigger heads you can buy for a 3.8L?
I want to do more than just all of these bolt on's, If I have to overhaul the engine thats fine with me, I just want to have one of the meanest V6's on the road!

Thanks

finish that off with a nice sct tuner you could also go with some new spark plugs and wires depending on your car's mileage to get some better mpg!

Hey Matthew,

It doesn't look like you need to much help, your head is definitely in the right place with this build list! Those mods will really wake up your V6, all I would recommend is getting a Bama Custom Tuner to tie everything in together.

You'll also be automatically enrolled in our free tunes for life program. So anytime you add a new modification in the future, just let us know and we'll gladly send you a revised file!

Keep up the great work and let me know if I can be of any assistance! Our Mustang Experts are here Monday-Friday from 9AM-9PM EST and Saturdays from 9AM-5:30PM EST. If you want to hit them up, their number is 866.727.1266. I can also have one of them call you directly.

-Dan

Thanks, I would love to put a tuner on it, but my mustang has 171,000 miles with original engine. I'm scared that ill blow it up if I put a tuner on it, so ill just wait until this engine blows then put me and Jasper engine in there and out the tuner on it!

And is the like High-Performance spark plugs that will give you a bigger spark?

What is so special about the (Windstar) Intake?

Thanks for all the help guys!

personally i'd cancel the throttle body...it's about as big of an upgrade and taping an actual paper weight to your car. instead put that money toward a tlok...those gears you chose will do nicely, but without a tlok it's not gonna feel like much of an upgrade at all. however combine the too and it'll feel like a whole new car.

also check out the other threads on beginner mods and also the sections sticky notes.

welcome to the site

isnt the super coupe swap a 94-98 3.8 with an m90 super charger?
if he has a an 03 i think a turbo or m112 would be a better option.

1) I have a SCT tuner, dyno tuned & have 300K miles on the V6.
2) The throttle body will be useful when/if you do a Windstar upgrade.
3) Go to http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/p...1PowerPaks.pdf * Look at the Stage 3 powerpack.
That is a super goal.
4) ** Remember that you can have your SCT tuner adjusted over and over again each time you modify the car, no problem. Like stated above, you can use AM & BAMA or use a local Mustang speed shop in your area to get dyno tunes.
Have Fun!!!

Hit up Ortiz performance for a nice custom tune, well worth the extra $10 compared to bama, which by the way you'll need a tune to correct your speedometer for the gears.. Basically gears t-lok and tuner are a great combination and really need to all be done together, like slosix said the t-lok is a must for the gears otherwise you'll be peeling out the right tire everywhere with the factory open differential

Also the coil pack is a worthless unless yours is going out, and the tb is a waste until you're pushing well over 400hp..

Edit: Robb, the BBK tb won't line up with the iac port on Windstar intake you would have to make an adapter plate for it to work
