my SLOW car (help)

I have an 08 V6 (just the standard engine they come with, nothing special) Mustang, and I love it. It's just there's one little thing wrong with it, and that is that it's slow as mess.

I've gotten to get it to go as fast as it can go, and the top speed was 109mph. it feels like it's being held back, and I don't want that to be. i've hear d that ther's a part of the car caled the govenor, or something like that, and it basically limits the engine so that it doesn't go as fast.

What can I do to correct this? can I just have the govenor removed, or do I have to get a tuner for it, or what can I do (that won't be excesively expensive)?

(oh, and as a side thing, what is the 0-60 of the 08 v6 stang, and can that be improved by a tuner?)

Re: my SLOW car (help)

The govenor is not a piece of hardware that can be removed, it is in the ECU (your car's computer) programming so, yes, you do need a tuner to reflash your ECU. Also, yes, a tuner will improve throttle response and your 0-60. As for the 0-60 rating of the V6's, I couldn't tell you

Re: my SLOW car (help)

0-60 is around 7 secs and a 1/4 mile of ~15.3

intake, exhaust, x cal 2 and you will be in the 14s

And if your going to ' go fast ' make sure your tires are rated for it....

Re: my SLOW car (help)

yeah, i was going to say that "going fast" is dangerous. most tires can only handle speeds up to 110-130ish. acceleration is more important. the only thing that top speed might affect is the end of a quarter mile.

Re: my SLOW car (help)

the car has potential and remember where a car cuts off in the mph does not determine how fast it is.. thats just a safty rating that you can not pass due to the tires on the car are not rated to go past that point and plus going that fast on a public road is 100% stupid.

With the many bolt ons that are out there and this and that you should have no problem getting the car around a second quicker than stock.

Re: my SLOW car (help)

Crawfish, what do you consider to be a reasonable amount to spend on making your car quicker?
