Dyno vids and pics w/ new exhaust

Brian at TexasHotRods sent me some new pictures and videos the other night.

Brian wanted me to note that the smoke from the exhaust is due to it being brand new exhaust (oiled for shipment). The exhaust went straight from the box to the car, then to the dyno. No driving around to break it in and it takes a while to get the exhaust Hot enough to burn off the oil and chemicals from the original start up. It’s all clear now.

StainlessWorks Longtube Headers, catted x-pipe, axle-back

Enjoy.

I don't have her back yet. Procharger still has to be installed, which will probably happen this week.

I hope to have her back in 2 weeks. Then I will be hitting up SAR early and often.

Holy Sh*t, you gained that much hp and torque from just exhaust and a good tune!
Must be those new 4.0s, really wake up after a few mods.
Wonder if my 03 3.8 would gain that much after a good tune, since i already have the exhaust.

Anyways, badass car, please post after that procharger!

Wow man thats great! How did you gain that much with an exhaust and tune? What does an "aggressive tune" mean?

He basically maxed it out with some race gas to see how much power he could squeeze out of it with that setup. I'm not keeping that tune, in fact it won't leave the shop with that tune. My Procharger kit gets installed this week, and he will then put a safer tune on it.

dont take this the wrong way (i know it will change once that procharger is on... but that 1/4 time was off of the dyno correct? you gained a good 8+ mph which is really good but i dont know if i would trust those 1/4 numbers a 13.7 @ 96.3 means it had a "perfect" launch... i mean trapping 102 only allows for a 13.4ish... if you are on street tires i dont see it being possible at a track..

When you run a quarter mile on the dyno, it's a run with basically perfect conditions. Thats why the numbers may seem lower than what you'll run at the track.

I wasn't the one driving it. Brian, the owner of THR drove it on the dyno. According to the pic I posted, He cut a 1.7 60' time. I would say that's a pretty damn close to a "perfect" launch on street tires. I would be lucky to cut a 2.1 60' time. I'd say it's safe to say that Brian has had a lot more seat time in fast cars than the average person.

yeah but id put money on it... that there is no slip... so thats whatever the best the car could do... just was scut95 said... i guess my point was the car is a 13.7 car but there isnt an actual track timeslip... but once the procharger is on no worries!!!

that's alright... he just doesn't want to believe that a V6 w/ exhaust could possibly run a faster time than his GT. and I don't blame him, I'd be pissed too.

Did you have your car at THR back in January? I swear I saw that exact car in the shop when I was there last. If not, then you have a twin somewhere.

Theres a chick here in Baton Rouge (Rob, Kyle feel free to chime in), with an 05/06 (not sure which one) v6er vert. Exhaust, UDP, and Tune I believe are the mods... and rims. I believe she's been giving the GT boys some runs for their money.

now come on guys... im not going to say 6's CANT beat gt's but lets be realistic...

you're saying she has....
convertible (extra weight)
UDP
exhaust (headers, x, and catback?!?!)
and a tune....

id say the extra 150 or so pounds from the vert make up for the weight of the v-8...

without drag radials and such id like to see the complete list of mods...

lets put it this way... who has a v-6 that runs 13's? and what mods do you have... and i bet it pretty much takes a power-adder (if its blower or nitrous)... but i really doubt with basic add ons (esp a vert)

Re: Dyno vids and pics w/ new exhaust

It's okay to get your *** handed by a 6er with some work done. An 05+ v6 responds VERY well to tunes. And thats what she has done. An aggressive tune that, she will give an 04 and under GT a run for their money. You seem to have that... v8 big head lol. Kyles 04 v6 is a coupe, exhaust, UDP, tune, intake, and he rolls with 99-04 gt's til 90-100ish? and he dominates the 98 and under gt's.

you are not being consistant... the car in this quote has more stuff done, its a coupe, and now he can "roll" with a 99-04 till 90-100ish... is that a stock GT? and the reason why he can dominate a pre 99 is because they aren't the PI motor... i am not making fun of the 3.8 or the 4.0 but what im saying is it will take a lot of bolt ons for a v-6 to stay with a STOCK v-8... then throw those mods on an 8....

does anyone have a timeslip and a mod list for a bolt on v-6?

in the same thought process... i am NOT saying i can beat a mach 1 or a cobra... (without a **** ton of stuff done) i KNOW my boundaries...

It's not sounding consistent because an 04 v6 is no where near the same as an 05 v6. The 05 v6ers handle the tunes differently than the 99-04s. I'm telling you, when Kyle and Rob chime in, im not sure if they have vids of her car, but she gives the gt boys a run for their money.

Re: Dyno vids and pics w/ new exhaust

first guy was on an 89 octane tune, so he wasn't even running aggressively (might have put him sub 14)

3rd ran same time as you

4th needs the driver mod

5th driver mod

last one forgot where the accelerator was

Re: Dyno vids and pics w/ new exhaust

one did run the same time as me... with drag radials and such... but thats ONE... and if you never read the post i let off so i wouldn't get a sub 14... anyway not to make excuses...

look at the MPH... i trapped 3mph higher... he trapped what i did last year with out my tuner, x, mgw shifter... and he did all this at 60 degs... point blank... you need a power adder to pull a 99+ gt if they know how to drive at all (which i dont think i can because ive only ran 3 trees...)

That's funny because I'm 99% sure Brian told me that the owner of that car was converting it to a V8 with turbo and turning it into a track monster. Must of been a mix up. It's been since October? What do you have them doing to it?
