Fuel Efficiency

Hey whats up? I live in southern cali and this gas crisis is kicking me in the pants... its up to $4.50 a gallon.. its depressing!

I have a 2000 v6 stang.. any suggestions on what I can do to stretch the gas out?! and maybe run smoother

Re: Fuel Efficiency

Depending on miles you might try to run Seafoam through your car.

Re: Fuel Efficiency

Turbochargers are amazing for fuel efficiency. Throw on FI and a very conservative tune and watch your mileage go waaaaay up. Lil expensive of an add-on though, lol.

First off, what mileage are you getting out of a tank now? We can tell you what you can normally expect from one on a daily basis driving wise.

Whats Seafoam?

Well my Car has about 80,000 miles on it.. and well daily driving a half tank lasts about 2-3 days. tops.

If I could afford throwing in the turbo I would have already to put in the turbo you need to like reinforce everything else right?

Re: Fuel Efficiency

well few things make sure your spark plugs and wires are good, make sure your air filter is clean, take off slowly from a stop, make sure your fuel filter is up to date, run a fuel injector cleaner through your gas tank next time you fill up. might see some improvement.

Fill it up completely, run the tank down and then check your miles per gallon...you might be gettin more MPG than you think.

Re: Fuel Efficiency

The most effective way (though, not always the easiest) to increase your gas mileage is to alter your driving habits. Don't tailgate, accelerate conservatively, drive slower, etc.

Re: Fuel Efficiency

driver slower, as you speed up the friction of the air moving over your car goes up exponentially. Going 60 vs 70 can really help.

Re: Fuel Efficiency

My 2000 V6 has gotten 27mpg in mixed driving the last 2 tanks... and it makes about the same power as a 99-04 GT.

I attribute the mileage to:

1. A good dynotune
2. Driving habits... like Spector and Markuz said.
