Drag car

So I have 2 stangs. One; a 2001 V6 which is my DD, and another 66 inline 6 which is my project. Once I get my 66 on the road I'm thinking of parking my '01 and converting it strictly to a drag car. It is all stock except for a CAI. Where would be a good place to start? And what would I need? This isn't a get up and go project, it will be a long term project. Money or time won't be an issue, like I said, strictly drag, long term project. I want it to be a fast little V6, that would be able to keep up with other V6's on the track. I'm not looking to make a GT killer lol

Yeah, I was hoping to get an idea of what other people have done. In the end it'll come down t what I want out of my car. I've read about it. Seems solid, that'll definitely go on my list.

eh has it's pro's vs cons...an m112 on a v6 will weight less and put out more hp an tq then a v8 with the same mods...sure he'll run slower but i don't think anyone would complain with him running low 12's with a moderate build

So basically max out the motor to full potential? Full bolt ons ETC.

Yeah, might as well just get a GT if I put an 8 in it. I want to keep the V6. It my own personal enjoyment.

So if anything, my car would still be street legal?
And also, would a GT tranny fit an my motor? I heard that the GT tranny had a removable bell housing

Yeah, any input is helpful. Thanks. Now about the tranny, mine needs replacing and I can get a tranny from a '00 GT with 71K miles would that bolt on?

No that has a modular bolt pattern, can't use a gt trans

Gears are always a great start for acceleration, 8.8 swap with some 3.73's will be good since you plan on big power

Cleaning all the casting material inside the heads and intakes to ease flow helps, ported heads/intakes under boost can actually lower IATs, while it "decreases" boost it's still flowing the same amount of air, just less restriction, and more power. Something you can do is grab a spare set of heads and try it out yourself, cleaning it up is easy.

My preference is a centri blower as they can be intercooled on our cars and run more boost safer since its cooler air, the downfall of the M112 is no intercooler, 8psi is going to get very hot.

Or search around for a decently cheap turbo setup, they go around sometimes just have to keep your eyes and ears open lol

I don't know much about the v6 what type of horsepower are we talking here with these mods. Block cracking? I understand you can make just about anything fast. Not to seem like an *** but if you could get a v6 into 12s how much work is required and if simple bolt ons allowed that wouldn't everyone be doing it. I'm just curious. I'm thinking twin turbo a 6 and get impressive drag times

Honestly our blocks hold down impressive numbers...still trying to find the peak and its well past 450...as for what got him into low 12s

M112 10psi
All supporting add ons
4:10s
Big stall
Tune
4.2 build
Intake, exhaust
Suspension mods
Slicks

I almost bought that car a few years ago but i bought a different stang instead....still kicking myself over it.

Also not to sound mean but a twin turbo build is overkill. A single setup will give you all the hp you could need.

The limit thus far has been the main caps. Over 500 they stretch and fail. Thats the problem gary schmidt kept having with his single turbo 4.2 setup. Was a mean car when it was running correctly though.

I think that a lot of people don't do it because it gets pretty expensive. Looks like a good setup. I feel like I'm gonna shove a crapload of Benjamin's down my cars throat lol well I guess I'll get the tranny from an '02 V6
