B&M Ratchet Shifter

So I was looking at a B&M ratchet shifter for my auto mustang, my question is, is this hard on the transmission or not? Does anyone have one?

I think if you downshift when the RPM's are still high and haven't come down enough yet you can redline the engine. Seen some race car drivers do that and blow the engine up. That's high HP cars though so I guess it would be similiar for our cars just not as hard on the engines.

Thanks for the info also @Proudsixxer26, could you post the link to that thread on here?
