Intake Manifold

Has anyone ever taken off their upper intake manifold and noticed some gum like deposits on the top of the lower intake manifold and the butterflies that are there?

If so did you clean it up and what did you use to do this with?

Its been bugging me that the gum is there, I've ran seafoam through it but the gum deposits were still there and I can't help but wonder if that might be part of my cars miss issue. I can only assume that it is there due to oil settling there from the PCV or unspent fuel from the EGR system.

Is probably deposits from the ethanol in the fuel, would use spray carb or brake cleaner to get the gunkie varnish off....do not wipe off with rag

AH, well I'm just looking at cleaning them up a little, sometime down the road i'm going to get me SSM's power pack and 4.2 rotating assembly, and do them both at the same time while i have the engine apart

Also, when I bought my car it already had the K&N CAI on it. I was wondering (facts preferred opinions welcome) what (if any) difference in power is there between the K&N CAI and the SR Performance fender well kit.
