5.4L 2000 f-150 engine..

So my cousin is swapping his stock 5.4L 2000 f-150 engine for one with more power and he's going to give me everything from his stock. Is there anyway it can fit in my new edge? He said it would but I'm not so sure..

Anythings possible if you shove enough money down its intake. You'll have to see how much power that beast outs out. Maybe you'll have to do some suspension or brake work.

It is what they used in the 2000 cobra R. So there's probably stuff out there you can buy for the swap.

So it is possible? Idk how much in going to have to spend on everything else though I guess I have some research. The engine will fit in my bay, though?

My girls dad did the 5.4 swap into a wrecked blown up roush he picked up..

He rebuilt the body and put the 5.4 in, I know he did a few bolt ons but the motor was mostly stock and it was bad as hell, that thing was fassst. Until he was running it out and hit a pot hole the size of a crater and totaled the front end..

Pretty sure the body he used was an 01

Yea, I drive an 01 v6. I suppose it'll fit then? This motor says it comes 260hp

a 5.4 will fit, but if you go with one like out of a lightning and plan to use the blower you'll be stuck in the same boat my friend is...and that's finding a hood lol

(had this pic of it for another thread then saw this)

The only things you should have to modify fitment wise is your front cradle might need some modification, the 5.4 is a modular motor right? You'll need motor mounts most likely, get the radiator from the truck and any lines/hoses you can because you'll probably need a good few of them, ecu, wiring harness.. and trans, I don't know anything about trans interchangeability, I know her dads was an auto, he used the auto from the truck but did a shift kit and stall.

If your cars a 6er, you WILL need to swap the rear out, 260 hp is mid 90s cobra territory, you'll blow the 7.5".

Id rebuild the motor, paint it, do any mods you can/want to while its on the stand rather than trying to do all that in the car because your bay will be tighter than usual lol

Looks like he needs one hell of a cowl or one of thos funny car style scoop hoods lol. Id just take a stock hood and cut the area for the blower and pipes out of it..

So I take it the hood would be the toughest part of the entire project? Lol

I've seen this engine in our cars before and each one I've seen needed a cowl hood, you'd be better off getting a cobra hood, you would have the looks and the power after.

you could go for a 2000 cobra R clone, spoiler, hood, side exhaust. Then paint it a bright red.

The cobra R had the 5.4 in it. So the cobra R hood will fit.

well yes and no...both the f150 and cobra R have 5.4's but they are different 5.4's..the f150's used a 2v or 3v depending on year (4v if a lightning)...the cobra R's were 4v

Even the lightning is a 2v.

Idk, I've never really been a fan of the clone thing. It's just not for me

Yea, I believe it's a 2V. Don't take my word on it though

It should mostly bolt in, you just will definitely need a new hood as everyone else has said. The lightning had a 2v motor, so basically the same motor as a normal 5.4 but with a blower and forged internals obviously.

I know I've seen a new edge with a lightning motor and he had a 5" cowl and still had to cut the hood for the motor to stick out of lol.

But you will definitely have to upgrade the rear end, find a new bellhousing to mate it up with your current trans, and I imagine find a wiring harness that would work plus I'm sure a bunch of other stuff. Def so some research, you aren't the first to try it but definitely do it if you can!

Subscribed to this. Sounds like it will be a sweet mod if you go through with it.

Can you ask him for me please? I'm interested in a swap like this but I have zero knowledge with ford modulars.

A guy I work with is using the stock hood on his 02 gt and has a 5.4 from an f-150 in it. If you're doing a lightning swap you will have to get a new hood unless you can fabricate your own intake like I saw some dude do once.

Yea, so far he told me, "it's a 5.4L from a 2000 f-150" that's about all haha. What's the difference between the lightening and a regular 5.4?

There really isn't that much of a difference, they have the same block heads cams rods crank. The only difference is the pistons and that's because the lightning CR is 8.4:1 compared to the 9.0:1 from a regular 150. Not to mention that eaton sitting ontop.

One more thing, I'm not sure if you know this or not, but you're going to need more then just the motor.
