Well the easiest mod for good performance is forced induction but pricey, theres a sticky on this site on beginners guide to bolt on power id suggest checking that out as well

How much do you have to spend on it?

You can do forced induction for $3-6000

A stage 3 power pak from SSM will set you back ~$2500

Tuner/ $380

Gears/ $100-700

Windstar swap/ free - $400

Motor swap/ free - $20,000+ (used, crate, size....)

There are a lot of things you can do with the 3.8. But you have to spend a good chunk of change for any substantial gains. Once we know your budget we can better suggest options for you. Also your overall goal will help. You want a little extra pep, or to blow the doors off?

I live in a red state, so I still have the right to do whatever the hell I please to my car! I will never live in a state where I have politicians telling me my car has to be quite, release pure oxygen and rainbows into the atmosphere, be slow, and get 100mpg!

Ya here in Ca unfortunely we have smog laws up the crack. Legally if I wanted to run forced induction car wouldnt b street legal. So im not gonna through 10 grand or whatever into an engine I can drive on the street.

Smog laws are Bullsh*t. The state government is worried about what my car is going
to pollute compared what China will pollute lol.

I was told in the future smog stations will just check your ECU. If it has been changed
automatic fail smog.

Op in the end id reccomend doing a new exhaust..lower it...and add wheels...call it a day till you decide to either drop a tone of cash or buy a v8

There is smog legal supercharger and turbos out there. I live in Cali also and have no front plate, smoked headlights and tail lights, intake, tuner, and no catalytic converters. Just gotta know your way around the system.

If the liberals get their way we can kiss muscle cars, and supercars goodbye. Sure there are electric ones, but who wants that?

"Hey man, check out this burnout!" Whirrrrrr, squeal, whirrrr.

A performance car isnt the same with out the exhaust screaming to let you know how many baby penguins your killing in Antarctica!

For the tune they check it to make sure the emissions systems are working properly, that's it. If you get a tune just return it back to stock and you will be fine.
