I herd it is like porting and polishing a head. I have not known anyone to get a hp gain without a tune. Along time ago someone had a write up on another site that does not exist any more.

Just like buying a bigger one, porting a throttle body will not give you any gains, even with much of a tune.

A Bigger throttle body is only good if you have everything else ported and even a turbo/Supercharger setup.

So when on am it says a throttle body can add 10hp, that's only if you have a charger setup?

Most likely. Just a tb on the 3.8 isn't going to do anything significant. In fact im sure any gains would be within the margin of error. We are talking 1-2 hp if your running a cai, full exhaust, tune, ported upper and lower. Maybe a couple more hp on a fi setup, but not much. Money or time definitely spent better elsewhere.

I see. Yea, I wouldn't wanna spend $200+ on a tb for 2hp lol. So in all honestly would it even be worth it to port and polish it? and I think when I get some time I'm going to do the j-mod with my dad. Seems fairly simple. Just don't mess up haha

AM.com will tell you 50Hp with a new air filter if it will sell you an air filter. Don't be dumb.

From what I know, it's when you drill larger holes into your transmission so you have much more crisp and stronger shifts

Yup, it pretty much allows better flow of transmission fluid for faster/harder shifts

It was with my 555r's....now I run kumo's though to get some wet traction back. So it doesn't happen as often. When I pick up some spare rears for track duty I'll see if I can show you.

It's hard to get H.P. free. Still sounds big to newbs. I have a Roush kit and v-6 side scoops. People still ask me if I have a v-8 in there. I just say, "I got plenty of power".

I dont waste money on small mods for minimal gain. Only reason I got exhaust? Old muffler rusted off. My CAI? Free from a friend, Weight reduction = free and helps with MPG and accel.. So it's all free so far for me, even my rear 1" wheel spacers were free from a good friend, The chin lip is garage door seal rubber, and my cobra headlights were bought for 10$ from a junked cobra.

You just have to make a choice, Do I want to rock the V6 and be like some of the big power guys? Do I want my V6 to look good like the show guys? Or.. Do I want to save my money for something bigger later, and enjoy my 6 for now?

I am going with the 3rd one, I try not to spend much money on it so's that I can save for a 96-98 GT, Why 96-98? Favorite body style.

Any other questions about my mods and how much they costed, lemme know. But as far as I know, I am one of the only small handfuls 98 V6' running 16.5-16.8's on the track with no engine work, stock internals, etc.
