data loging vehicle

First off, I had to unplug my engine wiring harness to install my program due to a P.A.P.S. problem. I am trying to data log my vehicle because it idles at 1500 r.p.ms. The problem is I can not get past device, firmware, serial, comm type. Is this a communication problem between the computer and the tuner?
I took it to the dealership to have P.A.P.S. fixed and they said "its a can of worms." They could start replacing wiring harness till the problem got fixed. So I am stuck with it the way it is. Could a dyno communicate properly to fix the tune?
