filter size for sc'd cars?

would an air filter of a different size make any difference? as in, would there be a benefit to having a higher surface area air filter for a supercharged car? i wouldn't think there was but i will have to buy another filter here soon (mine is old, dented, and won't fit on the new mount) and want to know if it's worth getting a filter with a higher surface area. my guess is that it wouldn't get dirty quite as fast but that's it. (one day it may suck enough air to flow a high flowing split port w/ 11 psi and i basically want to have room to grow)
