Hello all!

So I am new to this forum an was just wondering how much horsepower was added when I got my new exhaust work done? I have a 3.8L V6 5-speed manual tran and I got my exhaust straight pipes and they shop also added on a chrome exhaust tip i spent about 50 dollars on the job. How much HP would this add, just for bragging rights

What year is your car? I'm gonna guess about 1.5hp gain, 2 tq loss and minus 2 cool points for straights. So if you have a 99-04 you have about 167hp or 123hp for a 94-98.

Haha +10 on the negative cool points! A straight piped sixxer sounds like a tractor.

Removing backpressure. You gained hp in the upper rpm's but lost torque across the range.

So that would overall make it slower but more power?

And would getting a dual exhaust straight pipe with echo tips help make my car faster?

Kind of. We're talking about a 2 hp difference. Not enough to worry about.

You have straight pipes on a v6. It already sounds like a ricer. Running two pipes will not make it sound better or worse.

also chrome tips suck. stainless steel tips are best to prevent future rust. and what kind of mufflers are u running? u cant expect ur v6 to sound similar to a v8 but with a right setup it wont sound ricer.

Not much we can do to our little sixxer a other than make them look nice. I wouldn't worry about power unless you're willing to throw a lot of money into it.
Even then I would just get a swap or an entire GT or a cobra. And put money into making that faster

straight piped six doesn't sound like a ricer, those would be hondas with those big *** fart cannons with the 5 inch tips.
It has it's own sound, not the best sound, but for the price it's okay. A straight pipe is just for sound, even mufflers are just for sound. A full exhaust might give you 10-15hp.

also what year is the mustang? 94-98's had 145hp, 1999-2004 had 190. These car's arn't the fastest, some are pumped up and running with the gt's, or faster. Super Six Motorsports has one, it runs 10's.

190 at the flywheel. I believe the stock v6 auto they dynoed at american muscle put down 167 at the wheels, but I would have to double check.

Like previously said.. if all out powers what you want, don't go for a v6 lol

My 95 v6 is.. how do I say it nicely? ..slow as balls. Exhaust, intake, tune.. still not as fast as my 2g eclipse lol however, they're great for corners or going sideways I've got gt suspension everything, poly bushings, c/c plates, and 1" lower springs and I can't get it to feel unstable in turns.

You can't beat your eclipse.-.? That's crazy lol I own them all day! I've only lost to one and I had 3 people in my car and he had a turbo lol. And I was still like not even a car length behind him. And that's when I was bone stock

I don't have that thing anymore.. lol

To be fair, I did a good bit to it though, intake, exhaust, no power steering or ac, weight reduction, brand new trans and stage clutch, and I messed with a bunch of crap.. I didn't take it seriously, just screwed with stuff to see what would happen.. oddly enough it turned out quick 0-o lol
