Lacking Power

My 2003 V6 lacks so much power. This is my first mustang so I don't know if its normal for these 3.8's. The catalytic converters are bad but I'm getting them replaced with cats from davico. Could that be the reason I'm lacking? What can I do to gain more power? What bolt-ons and performance parts can I add to my stock V6?

---------- Post added at 10:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:23 AM ----------

My goal is to get at least 200 horses.

You will need full bolt ons with head work and a cam to get 200hp.

You're gonna spend a few bucks on bolt ons for minimal gains. Go FI or get a bottle

Yep, stock 3.8 are SLOWWWW and sluggish. Heck, mines slow and I have modified CAI, and dual exhaust. And some other goodies. Getting 200 horses is possible. All the stuff they're telling you here is good.

Easiest way is just to get a bottle (nitrous).

Nitrous would just be a money pit wouldnt it? Keep refilling bottle after bottle.

Its not that expensive. Its usually around $4/lb, so a 10 pound bottle will be $40 to fill approximately... And you don't run it all the time. You only use it through certain RPMs at WOT when racing, you absolutely do not run it on the street.

Nitros kit won't be more than 500 bucks. Compared to bolt ons, cams and heads 3k. Or turbo or blower 3-4k

stock is 193hp at the flywheel, so 200 is easy (at flywheel) but as far as rear wheels yup not going to be cheap or easy.

I would keep it simple and do gears, intake, under drive pulley, alum drive shaft and such dont spend a ton of money on the motor. You will keep wanting more and more.

Pretty much...hate to say it but if you want power unless you're ready to drop some coin on your car I'd just look for a GT.

Depends, you can find deals on used FI setups normally, just have to know where to look

Put some blue devil in the engine. It is for internal gasket problems, but it improves compression.
