Wider and a little taller tire.

First off, I will apologize if this topic is covered on a sticky somewhere. I looked around at different threads and didn't quite get my question answered.
I'm planning on gettin 18x9's for my new edge and eventually doing the suspension up right as well. I don't want to "slam" my car but our ponies look good lowered, so I was looking in the 1.25-1.5 inch drop range.
My tires question is this: I would like to fill up the wheel wells a little so I compared the 275/35-18's (close to stock diameter) to 275/40-18's, which is about a hair over an inch taller. Has anyone run 275/40-18's with/without a drop and would any modification be needed to run this size with a 1-1.5 inch drop?

Try asking in the tire section. Good help there

The problem is a taller tire will make your entire car taller as well as make your speedo off. Stick with the 275/35

Yeah I took both into consideration when deciding about the tires. The speedo wouldn't be off more than a couple MPH at highway speed, which also be corrected with a tuner. The actual height of the car isn't as bothersome as the wheel well gap. The lower springs would give me the appearance and better handling I want but the tires would give me a little over half an inch more clearance for my undercarriage. It would be raised about 1/2-3/4 of an inch with the taller tires, then lowered an inch and half with the springs. I could always run those Steeda X2 ball joints without the spacers to give me closer to a 2 inch drop in the front.

But an inch and a half drop may be to much, curious if anyone has tried it. I'm pretty sure a one inch drop would clear, but not sure about rubbing issues.
