how many trips have you made since those mods? how many passes? things like weather, and track prep also play a lot in times. was the tune redone for the gears and tlok? don't see the plugs and wires causing an issue...if it was bad enough to hurt your times you'd know something was wrong long before you got to a track.

lowering the pressure on street tires really don't help much cause the sidewalls just don't give the same...as for the taurus it's a 3.0...they offer a SOHC and DOHC and i'd assume its the 24v which makes since at a mid to high 14. i'd find a set of 555's and toss them on some spare wheels and be good to go...see what you get

Lowering pressure on street tires really helped me a lot. I dropped them down to 25 psi and got a hell of a lot better traction. With 35 psi I spun my little tire all the way down the track. 1/8th mile of course

Hmm I've always had horrible luck with lowered psi on street tires. I guess in the end it just comes down to track prep, and what type of street tires they are.

Probably the track. I went through the water every run as well and best I could get was 10.5 I'm heading over tomorrow and see if I can skip the water and see if that helps

Yeah most tracks will let you bypass the water box. Don't feel bad best I've gotten is a 10 flat when I was stock with a great track prep. That water box just kills

I'm pretty much stock except for intake and exhaust no rear seats and a really stiff chassis. But I think it's the weather that's affecting him. In January it was cold up in NorCal if I'm not mistaken. It's been hot as hell lately so that could be it

I thought you ran 16's before and now run mid-ish 15's with the mods? That's what you said in the other thread at least..

I believe they have a size for a 16" rim. oh and I should have mentioned that they are drag radials.

555's are street tires and 555R's are the radials

Different compounds, the radial is a softer tire and sticker, always has less groves in the tread pattern

not sure if its illegal to drive with them on the daily, it didnt used to be but you can use them on the road if you're on your way to the track. but they aren't exactly ideal for day to day driving. toss the drag radials in the trunk and put them on at the track. that would be the best thing to do.

they would definitely help out of the box but it all comes down to the driver, weather conditions, and the track

I drag race my car on the regular 555's and cut a 1.9 60' when i had stock suspension, they'll be more than enough for him plus have a longer road life than radials, and yes loko

no spacers only add rotational mass...plus the lowering hurts you

Start with learn how to launch better and get some better tires, instead of gunning it off the line roll into the throttle a little like said before lower tire pressure, I usually run 24-25lbs at the track in street tires
