Quick V6 exhaust question

I've been contemplating having a shop fabricate me a new dual exhaust. I'm thinking a catted x-pipe with some super 40's or super 44's.
I'm just wondering; if the stock pipes on the V6s are 2 and 1/4 inch, how do people attach pipes that are 2 and 1/2 inch? All the kits on American Muscle are 2 and 1/2 as well.

With an adapter..the shop doing it will just expand your old tubing to weld to the 2 1/2 " pipe

Thank you, that helps a lot!
My next problem is choosing between the super 40's and 44's...

It's not so much about loudness as it is about sound (although, I would like it kinda loud). I like the classic muscle car growl. I know it's only a six, but I've heard some pretty good videos.

I say go with the 40s. I'm running them now and they're nice. But than again, it's all personal preference. You may also wanna look into longtube and a cam

Honestly most dual setups that I've herd in person sound horrible, my exhaust is just a glass pack welded to my y-pipe then dumped before the axle, it's a little loud, but sound really good, I get alot of people thinking its a v8 lol

---------- Post added at 11:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:34 AM ----------

Also it only cost like 40 bucks for the muffler then like 40 for someone to weld it in lol

Thanks you guys, most likely I'll go with the 40's unless the shops can change my mind. The only thing is I have to keep the cats...
Also, is the h pipe louder? I cant make up my mind between the x and the h lol

It sounds like you're on the right track! A Custom dual exhaust with an H/X-Pipe and 40 Series Muffler is definitely an awesome set up. That will sound really good IMO!
