Block and all.. Rotating assembly is the crank/rod/pistons

Gotchya. In that case I'll probably just get the long block and rebuild it, because I need new heads anyway.

well the Cyl 3 side blew a plug out about 7 months or so ago, so it has a helicoil in it, origionally i was giong to go with the stage 3 from SSM anyway, I may still and just use the ones off the 4.2 motor as the cores, or send the ones off the 4.2 for a p&p

I just get some cheap heads and get them ported, polished and shaved enough to raise the compression.

So if I get the 4.2 I probly plan on doing head work, and the windstar intake, I'm kinda iffy on a cam though, I'm kinda trying to do it cheapish. Is there any cams that I can keep stock retainers and springs and whatnot? And are the smaller cams even worth it? If I did have to upgrade all that what kind of price would I be looking at?

You can get cams that work with stock springs, is it worth it? No..

You can do a cheap upgrade for springs, LS1/6 springs Max at .570, so for a .550 lift can they would be great and don't cost much, just need to use gt retainers to get proper install height for springs

A friend has the same cam I have (comp 218/226) with hardened pushrods for sale for $275 right now if you're able to buy

A little something that was put together a while back

The low lift lumpy cam is suppose to work with a stock engine.

it does exactly as advertised. Doesn't offer any performance gains, but it sounds good. I'd buy one, I think I'd just save up and get everything with the normal lumpy cam.

Didn't say it didn't do that, just that if you're going through with a cam swap step up to something worth while
