Are you looking to spend a fortune on your V6? Go FI if you want power. You can get a least 300 hp n/a stroking it, changing the intake etc.

Easy solution, pro charger kit

Better power wise, turbo kit

I usually don't rate hp to the wheels, but yeah it's better to clarify, thanks David

What would be best as a one part kit? Like throttle body and such?

Throttle body dosent do anything alone unless you have alot of other mods and a decent tune

You need a turbo so see little results from a bigger throttle body.

See that's why I was wondering, I'm new at this, and I'm trying to add horsepower slowly. I know that some things add like 10 HP here of there, but over time that little HP adds up.

---------- Post added at 07:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:14 PM ----------

A lot of the stuff that I look for on American Muscle for the intake manifolds are only GT? What do you mean when you say intake swap?

He probably means cold air intake. You can do a Windstar or 4.2(pic. below) intake. The 4.2 intake needs a Cobra R hood, but the Windstar intake will fit under your hood. Both are one of the few mods that add over 10 hp.
(edit) Windstar=7 h.p. 15 tq.
The 4.2 intake is 10 times easier than the Windstar intake.

Intake swap is taking the whole intake manifold off and swapping It out with an intake manifold from a windstar van. Since you're going to be doing this yourself I'm assuming, starts slow with a cold air intake, tuner, and exhaust. Once you get more experience with cars then try out bigger things. The windstar intake a 4.2 stroker are not "direct" bolt ons. You have to do a lot of tinkering with your engine bay. And Samuel I think the windstar won't fit under the stock hood without some minor adjustments.

This is my engine bay. The aluminum looking thing is the cold air intake and the silver thing in the back next to the firewall is the intake manifold.

And this I snagged from google. It's a mustang with the windstar upper intake swapped in. The air intake is sticking out from the front as where mine is sticking out the side

All thats needed is to remove the insulation from the hood.

Personally I think the "best" first mod would be a tuner. You can get noticeable gains from a stock car, plus retune your car for every mod after that.

The kit is easy to make , but there is a hick up.
The hard part is finding the intake space between the lower and upper manifold. By the time you buy the throttle body spacer, a person might as well go for the kit.
Any one want to dig in the archives for some old records?
Am I the only one with a 4.2 upper intake manifold?

David has the windstar upper and 4.2 stroker. You now have to get your windstar kit made personally.

I don't like the metal 4.2 intake, it's like the factory one and holds a lot more heat than the plastic windstar ones

Yea, it is cool. When I did the mod. ever one was into Windstar and not the 4.2 upper. I wanted to be different.

I speak of vap's intake spacer. This goes between the upper and lower manifolds increasing the runner length good for hp and an even more impressive torque curve. It's a pre-made durable G10 Phenolic spacer the stuff astronauts use. This is a requirement due to clearance issues so the Windstar works.

Yea I'm just starting out, I'm only 18 and using this car for college, but gonna slowly make it better. I'm just looking to by a few things here and there and mess with it on weekends. Right now I'm adding the Mach 1 spoiler and blacking out the tail lights. Alot of appearance mods. First I'm thinking cold air intake, but that new intake looks really good.

Pedal mod, I thought it was stupid before I did it, it's prob most bang for your 50 cents you can buy
Then I'd say cai first, ull get the whistle which is cool
Then you can either go tuner or exhaust next, but the other one better be third, those are the first 3 mods you really should do to any car

Can you gasket match the windstar intake? And is ours ported better than the windstar stock?

You can match lower to the windstar but you can't port the plastic windstar itself

Assuming you mean lower is better? No them are made from the same cast basically

I mean our upper ported compared to the windstar, you think gasket matching the windstar would help?

To get it to come close you have to do a cut and weld upper which is pretty expensive
